Re: It says it's a moth.....

Could not find the original, but here is a poor print of what I was looking for, showing the 'bare hulls' we used to offer in the mid 50's. The hull at the rear shows how the side decks looked after turning over the hull.

Re: It says it's a moth.....

Thanks Ed Great to see the old pics. Hard to believe I was involved building that some 62 years ago! Shows what a good plywood boat can survive .. ,and that was before epoxy too. She was bonded with Aerolite 300 and the plywood was BSS1088-AX100, the best we could buy at the time. I did hear from Ke...

Anyone seen this boat?

Back in 1952, I designed a 14ft x 5ft double-chine half-decked dinghy and built her in 1955. She was called 'CARA MIA" and her design I called "Venturer" though no one would know that. She was well built (for a teenager :), with marine ply over oak & mahogany ring framing so she j...

Re: Flying Moth - part 2

To follow up on my history of the Flying Moth .. here are some pics. The Flying Moth 'Crew Cut' was the only Mark lll that I know of and the 3 last boats were all built in Quebec, Canada .. as was the only Flying Gnat. (see pics). For mass building with high quality, I developed a way to build the c...

I first designed this boat in 1954 while still 19, but studying naval architecture at Southampton U. The first Mark1 was built b...
