Uffa Fox Javelin

Hi
After owning one of these in the mid 1980s I am trying to find out if there are any current uk examples (or plans available). It was 14ft loa and not so extreme as an International 14!

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE - Update

Boat now sold and on its way to Beccles in Norfolk. New owner is intending to keep the original rig for a "gentler" sailing experience.

Re: Single Hander, pref GRP, not toooo wiiiild

Harrier.... with original smaller rig same handicap (118) as OK in 1978. Plenty of room under the boom for 6ft and at 11 st a suitable weight for this nrig rather than the larger Phantom rig used for the Harrier +. CVRDA lost class, Merlinesque hull and 6' 3" beam to allow easy sitting out! Rig...

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE - Update

Yes, definately Portchester. Roger Cole - who has raced Merlins and an OK at various CVRDA meets - is also a member. Rig comments noted but the boat is being sold "as is".

High resolution pictures now available here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/grahamrbirch/
As the previous thread has been closed please keep postings on subject for a "For Sale" posting - I suggest any general discussion of the Harrier is moved to "Boat Chat" !

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

By the way, with saggy sail and no spreaders I was keeping pace with a similar age OK with a similar size helm..... I think I had a more comfortable sail though, with tacking and gybing a doddle due to the deep wide cockpit and good boom height.

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

My understanding is that the original Harrier is CVRDA eligible as a lost class designed in 1972. However, the Harrier + (with Phantom rig) has never to my knowledge been designated as a class so cannot be lost! Hence my wish to keep the Harrier in a near original state, which with Keiths comments a...

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

No viking funeral required - boat was sailing last weekend! Responsive, neutaral helm, comfy and plenty of room. If keeping it I would upgrade to modern cleats and low friction blocks but keep to the ethos of the rules by keeping the sidedecks clear and utilising the "twin towers". Transom...

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

My gut feeling is that ideally, as a lost class, the boat should remain as far as practical within the spirit of the original class rules. The boat was seen as a one design, not a development class. Therefore if photos of boats sailing say 1972 - 1978 show attributes such as spreaders, then it is re...

Re: Harrier No. 10 FOR SALE

9. The mast and boom shall be made of aluminium alloy and the section shall be that of die number H43839. 10. The height of the centre of gravity of the mast shall be at least 40% of its total length up the mast Not sure if H43839 is still available but I would imagine any low tech alloy mast of app...
