Re: Free rudder and wheels
Three road trailer wheels (4 stud) if you want the middle bit?
Tyres bald/punctured but I'll remove those.

Free rudder and wheels

Re: Jack Holt Ideal Dinghy
Yesterday I met a 20yr old from Poole harbour who had purchased an 'Ideal' and restored it. He said there was another on ebay not long ago. I had never heard of it, so went looking for photos and only found this page!!!

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection
David Henshall thinks we should be very worried about this auction: http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/197092/Sailing-history-for-sale I can't help thinking many of those dilapidated hulls ought to sell for less than a tenner, yet the auction process, fees and VAT will mean prices of £500. Madnes...

Re: Bow join is leaking
Force 4, MarineScene and Trident sell the brown, but delivery still bugs me. P&B had black/white only. Google told me Screwfix sell the brown version - but I don't think it is the same as the marine type (code 291). Will steer clear. Aha - ebay has saved me! Several sellers have the 291 in brown...

Re: Bow join is leaking
Thank you everyone. Seems like an obvious choice then! Sikaflex will save the day. I thought my problems were over, and now I find that both my local chandlers (Guildford Marine) and the chandlers I was just about to place an online order for rope with (Classic Marine)....they don't sell it! So it l...

Bow join is leaking
I've found that the joints between the hull planks and the bow timber (apron?) are leaking on 'Swallow'. She's a clinker dinghy made around 1950-1960. You can't see daylight through the gap, but the water floods in fast enough that you're bailing more often than not. Can anyone advise upon a solutio...

Re: Sail insignias I do not recognise
Just got back from holiday and am astounded to find the birdie is still elusive. If I can't find an answer with the CVRDA then surely there is nowhere else to turn! I suppose it is mostly academic, but it would be good to send the sails on to a good home, despite their soft condition.

Re: Sail insignias I do not recognise
The Wivenhoe logo is a red flag with a very small blob of something in the middle I see.
Looking at the boat, my sails are way smaller than that. They are smaller than a Heron's.

Re: Sail insignias I do not recognise
Vitress? What an odd idea to use a W shape for a boat beginning with V. I can't see an entry for Vitress on the CVRDA dinghy database - shocking! Neither does Google reveal anything useful. Truly a lost class then. Could the bird be a bird of prey, not a garden bird? Can't be Kestrel/Falcon/Merlin/O...

Sail insignias I do not recognise
Shame on me! I was donated some sails today, but cannot identify the insignias. http://www.cvrda.org/community/download/file.php?mode=view&id=1330&sid=c2bfcb03f2b53c6c9ea5bfe5ea8ea2d5 One is a W with pointy ends, almost like a flaming torch, but with a strikethrough. The other is a garden bi...

Re: Plea for a volunteer skipper in the Lake District
Thanks Martin. If she emails me we can have a chat about how to get involved and what she'd like to do. Lovely to have your support, thanks! info (at) sailransome.org I've managed to find 2 others so far, but would still appreciate more people getting in touch; that way we can cope with the inevitab...

Plea for a volunteer skipper in the Lake District
Some of you will remember this project from the days of the auction. Please forgive me asking for a favour... A small dinghy called 'Swallow', which once starred in the 1974 film of Swallows and Amazons, is now available for anyone to try cruising in the vintage style and we have delighted many Art...
