Re: Aldeburgh 2017

The Club extension should be finished, so plenty of room at the extended bar and terrace.

Re: Aldeburgh 2017

High tide is 14:30 at Snape on Friday 9th which pretty much rules orford out. The upstream river is much more interesting too.

Re: Replacement Wooden Mast

Try and keep original parts if possible. Both ends of the mast N760 were rotten and I successfully scarfed 'new' timber ends onto the old spar. Cutting long scarf joints is surprisingly easy and epoxy helps fill any gaps!

Insurance

Hi,
Has anyone had any success in buying insurance for very short durations? My old boats don't come out very often so only need insurance for one weekend in a year.

Re: Aldeburgh YC 3rd and 4th September 2016

If the club bar is shut it's only a short walk to the White Hart. The club president will be at the right end of the bar.
Any repairs from the previous weekend can be arranged through one of our sponsors, Demon Yachts or my nearby barn is available for DIY owners.

Don't forget there is club racing on Wednesday evening for anyone keen enough to test the local waters.

Re: RWO R174

Nice idea, but unlikely.... We have the AYC regatta starting on the 14th and I will need a prolonged recovery period from 6 days of laser racing.

Re: RWO R174

No image required! Part sourced from what I can only imagine to be an incredible collection of dinghy fittings and a very helpful member.
Only 4 weeks left to get the old boat finished in time for Aldeburgh.

RWO R174

Hi,
My fourteen is coming together but the only unusual fitting required is a double through deck block, RWO part no R174. Alternatively has anyone replaced damaged sheeves on this style of fitting?

Thanks
john

Re: Cotton sails

Hi, if it helps I've checked the original sails for Bobtail N760, also from 1949. Jeckels main and jib both have seams of about 7 1/2 inches. The jib is mitre cut.

JC

More details on Facebook.
Some interesting boats already coming to the east coast for a great event.

Re: A sticky question....?

Epoxy is best used for laminating. Try plexus MA550, there's some on eBay that's out of date but it should still work very well. I used it with success on my plastic merlin.
