Re: Bowmoor event
If there were any loaner minisails available I can think of people who might be tempted... I'm hoping to trundle the Finn over to that meeting, and/or Tom's N12 (The Spider).

Re: Zoom Handicap?
I suppose as RS500 would be comparable in size and sail area, and was also designed for two lighter (younger) crew? But the Zoom would not be as quick.

Re: Xmas greetings and next projects
I'm doing a few small jobs on the finn, aiming to make the tanks water tight, and a bit of a revarnish. SNAP!! The Finn has a small crack inside the CB case at the back where the board has hit it, and there are a couple of leaks in the hull / deck bond to fill. Also Spider will come home for a smal...

[quote="Nessa"the Taylor Finn doesn’t need a bucket. I hope.[/quote]
No - it will probably come up with a dryer floor than before the capsize... almost too buoyant.

Thanks Robert, as 'that' supermarket likes to tell us, 'every little helps'. Other big gaps in the knowledge... Re: Rather lovely Classic Mirror 14 on ebay
the colour is the same, but a '14 is a high performance boat. When I was a teenager I was looking to build one, but a club member had a 470 available to sell for less money, so that is what we bought instead.Obscured by clouds wrote: something else with a mirror rig!

Pete = welcome! You will indeed find much sound and helpful advice on here. There are also various articles on restoration on the cvrda main site - have you found those? And you will also discover astonishing things that can be done with walnuts. (Search!!).

Re: TV series coming soon
I had no idea Coracles were so appealing! I will go to the museum next time I am passing on the way to Dolgellau. If episode one is a good one to judge the series by, this is being done to very high standards - entertaining, informative and accessible.

Re: Finn nationals
I think - if the cvrda events are always not affiliated to class series / events, might be wise. If I remember correctly, did we not once have an event at Whitefriars, which was on the Merlin Rocket calendar, and we had 1940's boats racing against 1970's boats updated with full on raking carbon/myla...

Re: Finn nationals
Well Nessa, we must get my 468 up against your 469, from the same mould, some day! I have no paperwork with mine at all - when I first got it it had been sat literally in a compost heap for a few years. There was an ants nest in the boom (they had filled it up with mud).. and the double floor had a ...

I will certainly be keen to do a classic Finn meeting inland or coastal, although there are times in the year that are difficult (teaching timetables are not flexible).

Re: An idea to encourage race participation in clubs.
I suppose we could do nationwide classic class racing, submit our results to a collator on here. - yes, that was the basic idea. Not only giving a good reason to be racing our classic / vintage / old boats in our clubs, but also giving cvrda handicap committee more data to work with. PS I am up for...
