Re: Who´s that boat?

Generally the North East Cobles have a much steeper Tumblehome to the transom than yours. However the bow and waist do look similar to a tyneside Coble.....

Re: another ebay mystery

Re: What is this sail from?

Great to meet you at last Nessa and glad to get rid of the mast to a good home. Hope you enjoyed Kielder despite the rain. If you ever want to sail up here just let me know.

When I ran a boatyard on the Avon we used to clean limescale from the waterline with a toilet cleaning liquid but I cannot remember which one it was...

Re: Gently - Mast - Chris

I have top diamonds on Osprey 55's mast which I believe to be 1960ish.... I am getting more convinced as I poke around the mast step that she had a wooden mast from new in 57 but the alloy mast does seem to be as old as the sails which are dated 1961.

Re: Identification - USA boat

The deck looks very different but the hull does remind me of Foreland one designs that used to be sailed at Broadstairs. I was told that the Foreland was an adaptation of an American design possibly called called a Curlew.

Re: turning over

We renewed the kids mattresses the other week - as I was about to take the old ones to the dump I had an inspiration and took them to the workshop instead. They are great for boat rolling as the boat sinks into them enough on the gunwhale to steady itself whilst you walk round the transom. For heavy...

Re: What is this sail from?

The sail has already been posted - we are talking about possible ways to get the mast to Nessa as well. It would be a shame to scrap a perfectly good mast having found someone who owns a Bonito. It is a two part alloy mast similar to a Topper mast. Thinking about it I wonder if the boom is hidden ar...

Re: Merlin Rocket 3055

Thanks Graham - i take it you mean i should have done this and im a plonker for not doing so? Not at all and I apologise if it came across that way - I am in no position to call anyone a plonker given the errors I have made (and continue to make...) whilst fettling boats. What I meant and should ha...

Re: What is this sail from?

Right Nessa - I remembered at the last minute before leaving the club and have now got a grubby sail at my house - I wouldn't call it good condition and it really needs a good scrub but if you want it p.m. me your address and I will pop it in the post. If when you get it you decide its O.K. then as ...

If I had removed all the decking I would be tempted to screw temporary supports across the hull to help hold her in shape whilst I scraped around inside her......

Re: What is this sail from?

It does indeed - someone seems to have stuck the class symbol on at 90 degrees but apart from that it looks very similar. Given that we have no Bonitos at the club is this mast and sail of any use to anyone? It is located up at Kielder but I can bring it back to Newcastle for onward shipment....
