What is this sail from?

Found whilst clearing out the old garage at my sailing club - seems to be luff sleeved on a mast that just fits into a 20' container. I don't think the sail is in too bad a condition but I have no idea where it came from.

Re: transom flap seals

I'm using thin flexi plastic this season with no seals or elastic. If I'm at the stern wrangling the rudder the water pressure on the outside holds them shut, otherwise they just flap in the breeze. All seems to work very well so far.......

Re: Mouldy old screws in Jollyboat deck replacement

A quick and easy way to make full hull supports that fit the boat exactly is to rough cut out the shapes you need from whatever cheap sheet material you have hanging around without bothering much about accuracy. Make a frame to hold them from whatever offcuts you can find in the nearest skip. With t...

Re: Compass varnish

Oh dear - I bought some Compass today hoping it would be as good as Goldspar was..... Now I don't know if I should use it or take it back...... My local chandlers has stopped stocking Blakes so I have to trek across town and don't get as good a discount as I do on International if I decide to swap. ...

Re: Another Enterprise!

I quite like Blakes as it seems to cover better than its main competitor - I have never thinned it but I do try and save painting jobs for warm weather. If I do have to varnish or paint when its colder then thinning can help to get things flowing but I would try without to start.

Re: Compass varnish

According to my local chandler Goldspar is being discontinued due to it containing an ingredient that is going to be banned - Compass is the new formulation intended to replace it. Goldspar was my favourite poly single pack so I hope Compass is as good.

I've always fancied a mirror 16 but to digress the last two Kielder Windward Leeward open meetings attended by top skiff sailors from all over the country have been won by a local Osprey....

Re: jenny brushes and materials

The solvent will cost more than the brush..... - the guy I use is on e-bay, see item 180432548629 . He is good at combined postage as well if you need more than one size and he has a full range including rollers even if they are not all on e-bay - just ask him for what you want. The brushes are genu...

Re: No undercoat.....- this was a lie! I need help!

I have read glowing reports of http://www.stripperspaintremovers.com/ but I can't remember where.... I just bookmarked the page for reference. My search for the elusive walnut shells in the u.k. has just about run out of steam - shame since I have a blast cleaning pot and compressor waiting to be us...

Re: Osprey 55

Hmm - food for thought.... Now another thing - do you think the alloy mast is original for 1957? it looks old enough but why would you have an alloy mast and a wooden boom? There is a great big mortise in the mast step - much bigger than the mast foot tenon so I suspect that she has had a broken mas...

Osprey 55

When I first saw Osprey 55 in the boats for sale section I immediately thought of a fellow club member who I have been trying to get into Osprey sailing for a couple of years now. As soon as I saw the pictures though I knew that this was a real time machine of a boat and to rig it for modern Osprey ...

Re: Osprey Sail No 55

Sorry folks - Osprey 55 is outside my house having made the journey from Cheshire to join the fleet at Kielder this afternoon.... She is in incredible original condition and should be back on the water in fairly quick time (famous last words....) No doubt I will be asking for much advise via the for...
