Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

...and solve all the centreboard case issues in one fell swoop, Ah.... would that it were so... Packed the lads off into town with their mate to a "MotorFest" or something and just got back from grabbing a few hours 'quality time' mucking out and examining the boat up close. It wou...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Thanks fellahs, I'll take your word for the ease with which it's possible to fabricate in cee-fib and a pictorial sticky would be the clincher not to mention a fascinating eye-opener for me and everyone. Aesthetically though I'm not sure it's what I'm after for this boat. If it was a modern composit...

Re: de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

Apologies for the delayed response, been chewing over the options... A rear bridle is very easy to do, and provided you've got a decent kicker you can dispense with the traveller. Yup, that's the way I'm thinking of doing this, the graphic below seems as good an arrangement as any of the seemingly e...

Re: Enterprise Vintage Sails

Hi Pete: I ducked out of a set on Ebay a few weeks ago when they hit £100 - they topped out at £143 for main, jib, battens and bags!

Would definitely be interested in acquiring the old set you have for E878, just need to work out payment method. I won't be racing her.

Anyone thinking of building/restoring a Herreshoff dinghy?

Spotted this listing on Ebay for a construction jig for the Herreshoff dinghy. The end results are pretty damned fabulous and thought of you guys, any use to anyone? There's got to be a month's work done and dusted right there so its new owner can hit the ground running. Postimage doesn't want to pl...

de-bodging an Osprey centreboard case - advice req'd

My notions of the boys having their own Osprey each have taken a big leap forward on discovery of what is practically a sister boat to "Flypast" up for sale in Wales... https://s6.postimg.org/r3l0n29z5/892_beach_launch.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/6yrghlg5d/892_on_trailer_small_pic.jpg https...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

But if you get them an Osprey each, have they got the crews for when they want to race each other? Aha, another excellent question. Answer = no But that's the idea of a sailing club isn't it? Well I hope it is anyway. Have to say Draycote are pretty serious about their racing so there is a big pool...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

As someone who now owns 3 Ospreys... Ooh, OK, eyes front and centre... a full set of building templates and jigs and some plans and loves them ... You now have my full attention... ...all can I say you have made a very wise decision. I think so, it's pretty much rubber-ducked: the only thing that m...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

Run, don't walk. Buying a boat from people who know little about boats and have a exaggerated idea of worth can never end well. True, their faith in this boat seems impenetrable. Perhaps I should present the case differently along the lines of a reality check scenario, for instance by asking... &qu...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

£150 rejected. Hmmm... OK... think think think. In their email the owner seems keen to recover the £500 it 'owes' them. I can see where they're coming from, sure, who wouldn't want to but I don't think they'll be recovering it from my thinning wallet. Reminds me again of that Rover P5B Coupe of mine...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

Well, you made it to well over 100%, so go for it! Went for it... Offer has gone in based on what I paid for Flypast. She cost me £150 with her old Brit Seagull o/board and a hugely troublesome trailer to deal with before even starting on the boat. Upshot though is that I now have a trailer capable...

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

Thanks for chipping in everybody, this is all food for thought and much appreciated. How brave are you? ... Excellent question: answer = Pretty brave and not easily intimidated by the extent of the works required here. Remorseless with it too and left to my own devices I'd have a camp bed and a kett...

Osprey - Mk 1 (stern tank) and therefore nicer IMHO... Clearly needs total re-decking and therefore one might expect much more trouble below.. Osprey - Mk 1 ... Really would like to see this GP, could the pics be re-posted or linked somehow? Can't see diddly.
