Re: Boatbuilders
I beleive Desmond Truman, was offered either a share of the patent or a cash sum. Not sure how true this is, but he apparently took the cash. If you were to drive through Somerleyton, they have the sign "Somerleyton Home of the Hovercraft"....

Go on Roger, there is nothing to be ashamed about a Ginger Beard!! Until the company I work for changed the rules, I had a Ginger beard (And I thought it was very fetching!!)

Has there ever been an award (trophy) for the first Ginger Haired sailor. As a member of this much maligned caste, I feel that it may be time for the red heads to assert themselves!! Posted very tongue in cheek, just had a bad day at work, and looking forward to the P*** take that is going to ...

Re: No point in crying- over spilt milk!
You don't seem to be having a lot of luck with Smokey Bear (Some of that could be down to the animal crew!!).. We must invigorate our search for Credit Card!

Re: Boat repairs in the South-East
Another option, would be to book the boat in with the IBTC at Lowestoft. Not sure if it still works on the same policy, but it used to be pay for materials, no cost for labour, no definite date of completion, as boat will be used for training purposes..

Re: Another odd rules question
If more than one boat has crossed the line, race is on. However if I were PRO and had seen this coming, would have postponed waiting for wind, and if no wind came abandonded the race. I actually beleive that the boats only need to be in the vicinity of the start line (But expect to be corrected!!) A...

No matter how hard you try to make the boat bullet proof, I will still find a way to pull it to pieces!!!!

Re: holes in hulls
Rather than an epoxy bodge (remind me to avoid Norfolk boatyards  ) It might be worth having a look at this thread. http://cvrda.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1970&p=15988&hilit=veneer+repair#p15988 There are a few of us who have done similar repairs, it can be fiddly but the...

Re: holes in hulls
Well I would say a varnished hull is now out of the question (sorry). If that damage had come into the boatyard, I would have recommended SP and microfibres. However if you are doing the work yourself, and time is no object.... Take back each veneer by about two inches per layer around the damage. T...

Jon, worry not Sir.... in case you get zapped in the bidding war that has broken out for the Silver Streak! Smokey Bear is here, thwart all drilled out, fittings being replaced with loads of Epoxy - and now the decks are being stripped, will be coated in Sp320, then longboarded.....before being fin...

Re: Silver Streak on e-bay
I seem to recall (we are talking 20 years ago here, and in my alcholic drinking haze days!) that it had a kite, but that we never used it , or even rigged it (not very practicle on the river at Beccles). I would guess on the banditry score it may even be better than the Seafire, if it is in good nic...
