Re: What does everyone else do with their sails?

It gets worse. The six year old's now complaining she can't get on her trampoline because I'm always drying spinnakers on it. It's perfect for this, vented mesh floor and a two meter high netting safety barrier around the perimeter to stop the kites blowing off onto the lawn. The fact it might serve...

What does everyone else do with their sails?

Our youth is complaining- something about not being able to get into his bedroom 'cos we're storing some of our sails in his room. One suit each for the Firefly, Buzz, Wagtail, a few spare Merlin kites and jibs and a Wanderer genoa out of a wardrobe of more than fifty sails now doesn't seem an unfai...

Re: Design hints for kite-bags

Thinking outside the box (or bag in this case). We're experimenting with a floppy builders bucket in the Wanderer at the moment. You might know them as a Gorilla bucket or Rhino Tub, available in all builders merchants and most diy sheds in several sizes and now finding favour as laundry carriers. T...

Re: Spinny repairs and silicone spray

Thanks for all the guidance. The kite isn't for the Merlin, it's for the son's modern asymetric thingy whose name shan't sully these pages, so loads of room in the chute. Agree with getting it stitched but if I take it to a sailmaker I fear Pat will be able to hear the laughter in Gloucestershire! S...

Spinny repairs and silicone spray

I'm attempting a repair on a kite I've scrounged for a spare. The damage isn't too bad, one rent about 40cm long near the middle of the kite. Normally I'd use repair tape and if mother in law feels inclined I'd get the tape overstiched. However, the tape isn't sticking at all. I've just tried washin...

Hoping to be there with Merlin Rocket 3241 and the Wagtail. Hoping the weather's going to improve though. Who else is going?

Re: Mystery Dinghy solved at last!!

It just gets better! I mailed the seller of the Wagtail on E bay and have had a very pleasant reply. Three other Wagtail owners have also contacted him. Apparently he holds records of every Wagtail built and, given the sail no. should be able to date the boat and tell me a little of its history, whi...

Re: Mystery Dinghy solved at last!!

Wonderful to know what our little dinghy is. Thanks so much for the information. Once she'd got over the shock of being chased by the Jollyboat at Roadford we've used her in the Tamar a bit and taken on an epic row up the Yealm. She rows and sails beautifully and we continue to enjoy her, more so no...

Re: Unidentified dinghy, can anyone help trace her?

Embassy I'm the owner of 'Wren' 153. I've never thought she was an Embassy and I've not e mailed you. We've not positively identified her and have yet to find anyone who can tell us anything about her. If someone at your club has some information on her I'd be very grateful if you'd share it with me...

Re: Jack Holt 'Vagabond'

Hi I had the pleasure of sailing Vagabonds 701 and 702 in the early seventies. They were built off plan in about 1972 by a dockyard shipwright for our local scout group. I've fond memories of them. Whilst they look a bit like a small enterprise they're nothing alike to sail. I've some info on them, ...

I don't think it's a Curlew, although the dimensions match. The insignia is nothing like a curlew or the insignia from a curlew, see Shamals pic and the attached:

Re: 2010 events

Re: TRSC Ed, don't confuse TRSC with the Saltash Regatta- we're the club on the Devon bank and definately no rowing. As regards dates I can't be firmer than 'sometime in June' until November, when there is a monstrous meeting to thrash out Plymouth's programme for the year. This is a meeting of all ...

Re: 2010 events

Ed et al I've approached Tamar River Sailing Club with a view to their welcoming CVRDA to an event next summer and they'd be delighted. We run a dinghy regatta there each June which receives fair support from the nearby river clubs. It's friendly, there's loads of quayspace for visitors, the facilit...

Re: Unidentified dinghy, can anyone help trace her?

Anyone know anything about the Bristol based company Tratman & Lowther? They were a long established chandlers who got into supplying ply kit boats and the floorboards for C Craft inflatables and were eventually swallowed up by Ladyline. They supplied Embassy ply dinghies in kit form during the ...
