Re: What was wrong with the Mirror 14 / Marauder?

And on further reflection....... The demise of the M14/Marauder is yet another case of the dreaded 'curse of the Pocket Rocket'! It has long been one of my more cherished hopes that we could organize an event and get a m14, Pegasus, Jacksnipe, Typhoon, Lazy E, Zenith even - all together so that I co...

Re: What was wrong with the Mirror 14 / Marauder?

Matt, an interesting perspective that the boat didn't do well - they sold upwards of 700 boats and were - in their time, a buoyant and exciting boat with the backing of a strong class. I guess the bigger question then becomes "ok - so why aren't we still racing them now" and that is a very...

Re: Swordfish sailors

Pat, Ian and Swordfishman - I wanted some details a couple of years back on the Swordfish - I can't remember why, probably I was doing something on Fairey's (a regular topic of mine) but I drew a blank - I couldn't find anything that was organized for them. There may well be one or two individual bo...

Re: Proctor Pictures

Hi Keith, Not sure what I am doing wrong but the link takes me to a folder titled 'caravan'. Do you know of any other Zeniths still sailing who might like to grace the waters of Chichester harbour. To me, the Zenith is an interesting concept - very close in many ways to the Merlin Rockets of the day...

Re: Proctor 2018 - the search is on

Although I will once again be doing the Concours and am therefore not in the least bit biased, yes, I agree, Aggie HAS to be there! Not sure about the crew though, one bandit a boat is normally enough - two......well...what can one say!

See you all at the Show but yes - 'has to be done'

Re: Gull get together at Bowmoor SC

Alan P, Great to see this - the Gull is a sweet little boat. You may wish to feed back to those involved with the event, that the Gull will very much be a part of the Proctor themed events this year - there may also be some interesting new 'factoids' about the design. The boat will be at the Dinghy ...

Re: Bosham Proctor event.

2018 Greetings - we're now into the 'Year of Proctor'....... and the great news is that both events, the Dinghy Show and Bosham, are now well advanced. At the show there will be a small but select exhibition showing examples of his designs, along with some very informative display boards. These will...

Proctor 2018 - the search is on

Hi all, All the detail about the various events will be posted over in the Events section on here, but running alongside the planning for Proctor 2018 - which WILL be going ahead at the Dinghy Show and Bosham, 2nd-3rd June, is a more general call for anything - be that photos, stories, memories, boa...

Re: Laser 1 possibly very early #39

Well said Sami...... This whole "the Laser is the floating spawn of the devil" approach ignores so much of the good that the boat brought to the sport! I raced one the season before last (only borrowed for the day) and had a hoot.....even allowing for the failings in the set up of the boat...

Re: High tech handicapping

Chris, In case you missed it I had been looking into this at length - and have enjoyed a lot of interaction with the team at SailRacer who are getting very, very clever at this sort of thing. Is it pertinent to the CVRDA though.....no, I don't think it is but some years (or even many years) downstre...

Re: Xmas greetings and next projects

Hi Godfrey - I'm really looking forwards to seeing Passion again once she's back on the water - a fab boat. I've posted elsewhere about the travails of being a working journalist and writer and how just covering events for the media (not to mention being RO for 5 Nationals in 2017) eats away at the ...
