1948 International 14 restoration ethics.

Following on from my previous thread enquiring about the history of my I14 No. 521 Tiptoes: http://www.cvrda.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2680&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=0 I would not want to try the walnut shell blasting on such a delicate hull without trial. My preferred method...

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

You and anyone else would be most welcome to come and have a look. It sounds as if we might get a small gathering. I'll let you know when I get her home and then propose some dates, probably in three or four weeks time.

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

Thank you for your offer, but I seem to have almost evrything that one might wish for the restoration of Tiptoes, which was built by Uffa Fox Ltd. The Harrow Inn has been a large part of my 56 year life and you guessed correctly that AG has already been in contact and has suggested meeting there for...

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

Please explain walnut shells. I know that green walnuts are a source for wood stain (vandyke brown); but perhaps I am missing the joke?

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

In the images above, you will see the detached and original bridge thwart (resting on the gunwhales) onto which the jib fairleads and snubbing winch were fitted. The shape in the centre would support the wich which is now fitted to the centreboard case. The later arrangement for jib sheet fairleads ...

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

I have more images, but these probably give you a good idea of what she is. I was pleasantly surprised by her condition as she is relatively sound structurally. The mast will need some work as it is splitting along a construction joint, but it is straight. Ratsey cotton sails will serve as patterns ...

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

Please help me. I have been to have a look at Tiptoes this afternoon and took loads of images. How do I post them on this forum and is there any size restriction? I shall be collecting her and bringing her home in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Query about uffa fox 14 ft Dinghy

From the posts it seems as though there may be two similar design 14's of similar vintage out there at the same time! This is a real coincidence, but I think that it is true that two similar boats have emerged at the same time. The images here are of a similar, but not identical boat to No.521 Tipt...

Re: International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

Thank you all for your repies so far. This has got me quite enthusiastic, although this might be dampened when I get her home in the next few weeks and find out the amount of work needed. I shall post photos and shall probably be asking many more questions. The mention of Uffa Fox got me digging out...

International 14 No.521 Tip Toes

I am new to this forum and I have just aquired this 1948 I14. She has been given to me by a friend in a hope that I might restore her to sailing condition. She is complete (with wooden mast) and some old sails. Luckily I have the space to store her and work on her and I am a furniture restorer/conse...
