Re: Painting the inside of a grp moulding

I did and have only sailed it once, and that entailed a Ann airlift off the Manningtree Mud.

Kind regards Gavin. :|

Re: What is it?

A French made 320 maybe, (not a Tabur version as they are more snub nosed with a black foredeck)

Re: I suspect a few here will like this BBC series...

Really good series as was the one about folk restoring boats. One an Etap, a 30s sloop, a speedboat powered by an Essex V6 engine(called Essex Girl), actually a water jet boat-no prop. There was also a guy doing an elctric boat and one I missed trying to find the series on DVD, but finally itb was r...

Re: Mast and boom for Firefly

Hi again Chris, thank you for your reply. Firstly where in Suffolk is the boat hull located? Is she wood or fibreglass, and either way does the hull need much in the way of repair work? I haven't been able to sail this year and am having a pace maker fitted in a couple of weeks, so hope to get back ...

Mast and boom for Firefly

I still have the alloy mast and boom, from my scrapped 1960 Fairy Firefly, (that someone on here was supposed to let me know about, ages :? ago),never mind, but asking £85 for both(all stays and halyard out and in hauls complete. Might suit a resto project.

Re: Rudder shape ?

My Wooden Sprite rudder fits the pintails on the Monaco Minisprint hull, but I can't remember what the rudder tiller was like when I had a Minisprint 11 but would make an uneducated guess that they are the same. :x

Re: A couple of Firefly questions

There is an awful lot of tension low down on such a mast, from the kicker and main, not to mention the weight transfer from the centre board when the craft is healed over, and personally I wouldn't trust a couple of rivets, unless you have actually sleeved it internally, then you have potential prob...

Re: Wayfarer W3

What a beauty, reminds me of the one I had a hand in helping build 50 years ago at North Walsham Secondary Modern School, Norfolk. I was then fortunate enough to help sail it on the Broads as a few of the teachers were proficient sailors. Plus usually met a nice gal and we often cycled to, sailed an...

Re: Minisail slightly odd .....or maybe not?

I previously owned a Sprint 2 with the self draining transom and moulded supports for the sliding seat. The one still in the back garden is a Shallow hull and bereft of the screw in plastic supports or channels for said, for the seat(not also present) That one on Fleabay is a bit confusing due to th...

Re: Mainsheet/kicker.

I presume your reference to the Mustang, Trebor, was in respect of the Boss 302 and 429 American muscle cars. In England Dagenham did a Special edition Laser version of the hardly special 1600 Capri. Also Ford has long since called their special hot versions RS for Rally Sport , so didn't have any b...

Re: Hunts 2015

Hi Nessa sorry I picked the boat up today, as the guy was only available very early doors ,Saturday and Sunday, and not till late on both days. He was available today, but as I had'nt any staying over plans, I had to come back, as to forgetting that I had volunteered to help out with a Dissabled Din...

Re: Hunts 2015

Hi Nessa I appear to have won a Lightning 368 on Fleabay.
It gives the address as St Neots, and if I can arrange to pick it up for the weekend, would it be OK to pop along to your club, have'nt even seen it yet, so hope it does'nt have the sub aqua properties of my last craft. Gavin
