Re: Solid foam buoyancy

Thankyou all. I was very close to buying resin and cloth today. Having had a very interesting discussion at the excellant Porter brothers in Emsworth. Glad I waited and read todays postings. Of course more efficient bag buoyancy and a towelling scarf is the way to go. I had planned roof insulating p...

Re: Solid foam buoyancy

J26 is unusual among Jollyboats in having no tanks. The bags are tied down. When capsized the bags sit under the deck but there is insufficient buoyancy low down. So the centrecase is fully submerged. This makes bailing unrewarding ! I don't want to change the boat by adding tanks. Solid buoyancy st...

Solid foam buoyancy

Following my experiences at Netley.
Capsize and a drift to the beach fully submerged.
I want to add solid buoyancy to J26.
Does anyone have any experience of using polystyrene or foam encapsulated in grp ?

Re: Classic FD

I agree mine's a 505.

Has anyone seen a Fairey 505 recently ?

Does anyone have any pictures ?

Only seen one under a tarp 2 yrs ago in a boatyard in Emsworth and about 3 yrs ago the rotting remains of one appeared on ebay.

Re: British moth sail

Hi Steve
Not a Goth but I have a British Moth with handmade cotton sail.
Could do with something more durable.
I will send you contact details via personal message.
Thanks

Re: Calling all Scow (and...Albacore ) sailors

Well done and thankyou David- absolutely fascinating I'm trying to place the bits of Southsea featured in the clip. Preserving the history is, for me, equally as interesting as the boats. It would be great if this could be accessible to all as my family want to take holidays that don't always featur...

Re: Calling all Scow (and...Albacore ) sailors

David I would be very interested in the Jollyboat sequence also in any Scow info. Voodoo the YW scow was for sale when I last asked Paul, one of the 4 or 5 owners. He describes as a bit of a pig in the water in light winds but she flies above force 4. Paul had photos that he leant me and there was a...

Re: Uffa Fox Airbourne Lifeboats

It would be fascinating to see any pictures of the boats sailing or just rigged. Does anyone have any pictures ? The boat in the classic boat museum has been well restored complete with outboards and rockets to fire off lines when it landed. It would have made a very good front cover for a Victor Bo...

AASA Int 14 870

Has anyone spotted this.

http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F150821

I have seen the boat and she is in very good condition.

I'm sure there have been 14s of the same era sold on ebay in the last year.

Does anyone remember what they sold for ?
