Just like the Merlin Rocket Tideway, the older boats came through better in the conditions - deep valleys/ blocks of flats and windshifts. Or maybe it's the older sailors who are patiently reading the windshifts instead of fiddling with the latest gizmo??

Replacing the centreboard slot gasket had more effect on our flotation position than the new buoyancy bags - stopping more water coming in!
Must work as we haven't had Roger's Radox award lately!

Probably also helped tha I shouted to him to take some of no 6 as he appeared to be leaving the turning mark as we arrived! Once he saw Iska the cotton sails and wooden mast obviously struck a chord.

And just to prove that it isn't the super modern carbonated boats you need, Roger came 16th or 17th (there's a possible incorrct calc above him) in Chris's un-modernised Sprite Full 507 and beat most of the newer boats. Also from what was said at the weekend they will be checking insurance so bring your documents.

Mervyn Allen who run the vintage wing is one of the scrutineers who will check for paddle, anchor and line and bailer.

Happy travels Garry - just tie the gooseneck on tightly - there's enough bits on that motorway already. Parking was about the tide of traffic wardens that sweeps through there regularly! I wouldn't recommend the event as a first event - sounds like you need to be comfortable with a boat but any watc...
