505 - 6831
I have decided to concentrate resources on my JB so 6831 needs to go. I planned to sell in the Spring but in case anybody looks on here in the meantime and wants a low cost way into 505 sailing here are the details. I think 6831 is a Rondar, anyway the hull is sound, everything rigged and works well...

Re: Boxing day sail
New Years Day pursuit race was better but we would have done better still if not sailing off a 505 PY of 902. Still, we beat 5 much newer boats.

Re: Boxing day sail
We sailed the 505 on boxing and were doing OK until the capsize. It was very gusty and we touched 11.7 knots on a reach according to my non CVRDA GPS christmas present, not bad for old dinghy.

I made a minimal bid but lost out, should have been watching closer.

Re: 2009 calendar
I have emailed the Sailing Committee with the dates and hope that we can come up with something to fill a gap.

Re: battle of the classes 2009
My JB needs some work over the winter so is out of action until Spring 09, and I think at least 1 other is the same.

Re: Dinghy Weeks and Classic Weeks
Perhaps. BBSC could take the Frensham slot and open it out to include lost classes, nearly old enough but not plastic that we do not like and run on the basis of competetive but fun with no personal handicaps?

Re: Singlehanded challenge
I was amazed at how quiet the show was. Really good for looking around, awful if you hoped to sell anything. The FD looked great as did the P&B 505. When we were looking at the 505 and the FF we were the only people doing so. Hartley laminates had a big show area with all their range, Ovington h...

Re: Dinghy Weeks and Classic Weeks
Ed, I think it is an excellent idea, especially the three rivers in Norfolk. I will be taking J9 and have a crew too. So, why don,t we use that event in May as a starter?
Maybe we should nominate a dinghy week, perhaps Cowes, and encourage all to attend and see how it goes from there?

Re: 505s
That is the same model I sailed yesterday. Mine cost less than a combi, included a mylar jib too. The fittings are all there if a little worn and it would better with a coat of paint, but loads of fun. The only dinghy I have ever sailed and thought that if I could afford a new one I might be tempted...

505s
I had an excellent sail today in a CVRDA qualifying 505 belonging to a fellow club member. They are, in my view, super to sail so why is there not more?

Re: Singlehanded challenge
The offer still stands for a CVRDA event at BBSC, if some clubs have not responded perhaps they are not that keen?

Re: FD on ebay
It does look very nice, it will be very interesting to see if there are any bids with such a high start price.
