I know conventional wisdom is very much pro wet-and-dry sanding. But I have always found it very hard to then get rid of all the dust. So I tried something else recently (inside an optimist)... I was quite astonished how good a vacum cleaner is at getting rid of the dust! I have a cheapish B+Q sande...

Not to forget the most important thing - that different boats give different thrills (or emotions, I suppose). So for me, my ideal fleet would be International Canoe (the most exciting thing anywhere, that I have ever sailed), an old Merlin to sail with my wife on calm summer evenings, a miror ('cos...

The Merlin design guide has me to believe I have a boat with a "reputation" to be difficult to sail, and the library there has the designer himself pointing out its unstable downwind characteristics. SO... If i _said_ to the sailing sec that I had "just developed" this new class ...

The nice people over on the MR site have told me she is indeed a Mk IX (not IX b, etc.) so comes with its own built in handicap (bad manners on a run!). Was built by Hoare and in 1965, named Scampy 1. Jane does not like the orriginal name! What PY would you suggest, Rupert? Did you have a scheme bas...

We have just gained possesion of this rather nice Merlin. We think she is a Mk IX, from about 1963 to 1966 (the former date is on one sail, the latter in some documentation with the boat). Is there a definitive list of Merlin types/dates against registration number somewhere? It seems clear that she...

Launching trolley for either a fireball or an international canoe is needed - at a budget price. Anything that could work with a bit of TLC would be much appreciated.
