Please post your intentions to compete, or any other queries on this thread. We seem to have 6 confirmed entries already. Nearer the time I can provide directions. Please do not use the club house postcode that will take you to the wrong place..... You will need the dinghy park..

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
I'm starting to wonder, if we maybe we should create a new thread for Oulton Week, it may get lost in the other posts.....

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
David, We don't normally have Broadside, but if enough of you guys want it, we can get it..... However be careful, the drinking normally starts at 11:00 am, is only interupted by the sailing and goes on till midnight. Even the hardiest drinkers need the "wishy washy" beer to keep going tha...

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
It seems that we may have at least 6 CVRDA entries for Oulton Week already...... This is looking good as there are over nine months to go..... Richard Johnstone-Brydon is keen to make a photographic record of the event (And he is only interested in classic boats), so we WILL get good coverage in all...

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
I hadn't heard about Jim Hoseason, a real gent, a great shame. I hadn't heard anything specific about hiring cruisers for Oulton, but we do have members and visitors that have used hire cruisers for years. It's usually a nice way to spend the week, either moor at the club, close to the social (eveni...

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
David, you will be made very welcome. As for camper vans I may have to get back to you. While the grassed car parking next to the dinghy park does not officially allow overnight stays, when the powerboats have the Broad, thier crews turn up in HUGE Winnebago style motorhomes 2-3 days before the even...

Re: Otter or.........not a.........
Alan, You have clearly never raced a Star - The "Dry Fly" of sailing - along with the International Canoe quite simply the most difficult boat to sail, the medal race in Quindango was a justification for keeping it in the Olympics alone the places changing constantly - the technical aspec...

Re: Bosun
I took a school team to race against Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth many years ago...thrashed them...always had a soft spot for Bosuns since then!!! Several years teaching cadets to sail in them did nothing to lessen my opinion of them. They are solid and slow, good simple boats for tra...

Re: 2010 confirmed locations and dates
As AG and Rupert both know the Oulton Broad Yacht Club, have allocated start times to the CVRDA for next year. If you want this as a permanent event (or just a re-occuring one) then you will need to turn up!! Can I encourage, CVRDA members from Noth Norfolk, Norfolk, Sufolk and Essex (Not forgetting...

Re: Marauder, Minisail and ???
David said:- Could home building start again. I presume there is a ? on the end of that one? (Sorry, that's my Rupert hat on :P ) The whole issue of DIY is a bit of a dead duck these days. Personally I blame Builders and planning regulations that allow you to call your Garden a "Brown field&qu...

While at work (night shift this week), I live in Harlow, so I suppose I could expand the search to Middlesex or Suffolk....

Boat storage
Has anybody in the Essex/Hertfordshire area, got storage space for a classsic dinghy this winter?? (Would prefer undercover, but could cover the boat well enough to cope with frosts)....... I really would like the boat, but because of storage problems (I live in a flat, and in the deeds is written n...
