Job ad - Wooden Boat Builder, Norfolk

hunters.jpg
For those that don't know Hunters yard hire and maintain a fleet of mainly 30s and 40s varnished mahogany cruisers. They are quite splendid boats, maintained to a high standard.

Re: I hope they don't have "high hopes."

Ants do seem to like it under boat covers without there being any problems involved. I recently evicted a large group from under UnSkol's toe straps.

Re: Finn Needlespar Mast repairable????

Not precisely sure what a mast ring is, but can't you fabricate another to butt against existing? Better than chopping mast.

Wood veneer suppliers...

I need some roughly 1.5mm veneer, preferably oak. Not huge quantities, basically 4 bits about 400mm * 350mm. Surrey or Sussex would be convenient, because carriage would be prohibitive for such small quantities from Robbins I reckon. Anyone got any suggestions for suppliers?

1973 Int Moth 3517 (Skol iii) (Sold)

"Unskol" aka "Fred", Int Moth 3517, is a Glass fibre (coremat) Rondar Skol Mk3 above the waterline, and has a cold moulded hull below the waterline. It seems to have been like that from the beginning. The bottom was replaced in 2014, and the hull professionally painted, so its al...

Re: Mirror impact repair

If you can improvise some sort of clamp then a piece of ply covered in parcel tape each side over the wet repair would bring everything together and reduce the amount of sanding required.

Re: Calling Firefly Experts

I think the number alignment could work for 1265. I don't know enough about Fireflies to say whether that's feasible or not.

Masts are heat treated, I'm not at all sure about welding... horizontal or vertical crack? what's the section like, could it be sleeved externally?

Re: Gull Dinghy lines plan / sail plan

JimC I was contacted by Celia Edgington at the RYA - she is co-ordinating it with a media person called Dougal at David Henshall Media. I may know someone in your area who is a Gull person who might be able to help. In my area we have a very good reprographics firm who copy to A0 and are really car...

Re: Gull Dinghy lines plan / sail plan

I have most if not all of the Gull material from the early 60s in rather fragile condition. What I don't have are the facilities to scan them, because these are large drawings, and a bit fragile to faff round trying to fit bit by bit on an A4 scanner. They're in NE Surrey. Who's your RYA contact?
