I've used resorcynol glues (Cascophen) when re builing fairey boats. Great for cold moulding, as it is easy to spread and doesn't expand. Very similar to the Phenol formaldehyde glues, but sets at room temp. Used to use Urea Formaldehyde glue a lot. Cascamite by another name. Wouldn't bother now wit...

I redecked Saskia with Balcotan. Need lots of clamps as it foams. Best for large area not too high stress joins, I feel. Deck not fallen off...yet! Very easy to use compared to epoxy, and no waste.

Hi John! I too saw the boat. They looked terrible but have been told they sail rather well. Would be good with a bad back. Mirror 14 an altogether different beast! Quick, though. The 16 would have a cvrda handicap of 92, where a wayfarer is 97. I think the 16 would get into cvrda as a lost class!

Sorry, not classic enough? Bit like bringing a Laser along to sail? Tastier, though - more like bringing an RS 600!

Charles Smith at Frensham Pond has made arrangements with his committee for cvrda to hold a classics event there on July 16th 17th 2005. For those who don't know, Frensham Pond is near Farnham, in the south east of England. A delightful old fashioned looking club with excellent facilities and friend...
