This guy has been selling off all the bits on ebay for the last two months, real shame he thought he'd get more by stripping it

Re: Tools

I must admit that having had cheap jigsaws for years I tried a good Makita one and the difference is extraordinary, cuts faster, smoother and more accurately.....also about £150+ I've found Makita stuff to be good all the time no matter what. However these things are really only good if you can affo...

Re: "Ugliest dinghy ever" contest

Great description, a really good idea for those early stages, I'll knock up one for a club bug this summer and see how it goes....

Skipper Sabre

For all you skipper fans out there, on ebay is a Skipper Sabre.

This version had a proper rig and was good to sail, though the shrouds were cheese wire thin!

Re: "Ugliest dinghy ever" contest

The swoopy French Job has a windsurfing hourglass joint on the central track. The foot straps are set up to use it as rather a wide windsurfer. The centre board is a standard windsurfer unit, hence the reason it is recessed. It is a hybrid to allow its use as a windsurfer and as a dinghy. The photo ...

More Wayfarer issues............

The Mk2 grp one we've been given has a list of issues I'm going through at the moment, but just noticed something else. The tabernacle is made from grp reinforced wood strips running from the hog upto the underneath of the foredeck. There is a 15 mm gap between the top of the tabernacle uprights and...

Re: Moth merry-go-round

In the pictures of the moulded scow moth from the link above; the picture with it rigged shows a lever to operate the outhaul.....is this correct? If so, good thing my head would be well out of the way!

Re: Wayfarer with delaminated foredeck

Lovely, Thanks for the replies, the entire deck has delaminated upto about 2" from the gunwale, so I think you are right cutting the top layer off, cleaning it all up and rebonding would be best. I'll add some extra support beams as well as there is almost nothing underneath......frankly I'm no...

Wayfarer with delaminated foredeck

Someone has given our club a Glass fiber Mark 2 Wayfarer, mostly in sound condition given the age. The only issue is the foredeck which is foam sandwich, the top layer is now completely free of the foam which still seems attached to the lower layer. The boat will be used from a mooring so eventually...

Re: Enterprise questions.

Really depends on the boom you have.

Ancient Ent, wooden boom with resident earwig population?.........boom bends like crazy no way of controlling leech tension so let the traveller off and control leech tension with the main sheet.

Re: Question about Classic Finns...

Its got the same bow handle, rubbing band, center plate wood capping and thwart as my ancient Pearson had. However the view looking forward from the cockpit into the bow does not look Pearsonish.
