Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
If it is windy you will find that the boom bends, making the sail into a bag as you loose both foot and leech tension. I also hope your boom is up to the task as I broke one doing the centre main thing many years ago.
Re: Solo3404
I think I have a suitable piece of wood in the garage that will match, when I get a moment over the weekend I'll run it through the band saw and see what I come up with. I can gauge the angle as I still have the offcut laying around from the last one I made.
Note to self - tidy the garage.

Re: Sea Fire on the bay
[quote="Hotspur"]the wooden battens in the GRP floor did give me slight cause for concern. Aren't those an issue on older GRP Solos? I had a GRP Solo with soggy wet floor battens, caused by holes from the toe straps and other fittings through the thin layer of fiberglass over the wood. I d...

Dry suit cleaning?
My dry suit has been used nearly every week for two winters seasons and still is in excellent condition, no leaks and still breathable. It gets rinsed off, rinsed out and aired after use but now has developed a mild 'lived in' aroma. My question is what is the best way to give it a thorough clean to...

Re: Solo 363
It looks a nice enough boat for sailing but not very original. New floor not to period build methods or style, new decks, more modern mast and sails.......... Sadly not much of the old boat still there. Value, I have no idea. I guess it depends what you want it for, it would need to be measured as i...

International Moth Sail wanted
I am getting my new purchase ready for the water, she still has her original sail from 1971 which is usable but looks tired. I would like to find her a better sail as she deserves one. Has anyone got a suitable sail in very good condition I can buy?
Thanks, Phil.

Re: PY starting point for 1971 Imperium scow international m
Thanks for your suggestions, I think 1148 looks like a reasonable starting figure as we have a Europe and Solos (both on that last time I looked) and I can gauge how I do against those and work from there.

PY starting point for 1971 Imperium scow international moth
I have just bought a 1971 Scow moth, thanks to Jools on here, I intend to sail it inland but I need some kind of PY rating for my club. In time I will end up with personal handicap for the boat but I need a starting point. Any suggestions before I have to start on a foiling moth's handicap.

Knee protection
Has anyone got a recommendation for knee protecters that stay put, I have tried a number of different pairs but I always seem to end up with shin pads. I have a pair of expensive kevlar material covered ones 'designed for sailing' but these are no better. All those have been tried with dry suits and...
