May I be the first to thank those in charge of the software upgrade, etc, for the re-establishement of the forum.
As a 'newbee' with a new boat (to me) it felt like someone had 'chopped one of me arms off'.
Standby for some new questions.....Struggling with the spinnaker at the mo!

Re: Thames event
Mark,
We have never met, but I have a footie in my garage.
Built from plastic card. Have to dust it off soon and see if it still works!

Re: MR 950 Shake down.
Believe me, if I can avoid taking the centreboard case out, I will. I have sorted my rudder, except I have decided I want a rubber universal joint for the tiller. I have ordered another Crewsaver bag, so I can give Rupert his spare back.... Rupert is now in possession of the jib halyard he gave me, ...

Re: MR 950 Shake down.
Chris and all, That sounds interesting. I am not able to sail the weekend coming, so it should give a chance to dry out a bit. I think I will carefully tighten the pivot bolt (only by a turn) and then put some runny superglue into the crack, and then back the pivot bolt off by two or more turns and ...

Re: MR 950 Shake down.
All, So what are my options for the solid centreboard case fix for: 1. The rest of this year. Bodge tape will only do until I bring her back for the deck varnish. In a month or so. 2. A more resilient fix that will last until I pull her apart. Could be years... 3. If and when a full strip is in orde...

MR 950 Shake down.
Okay boys and girls, I took her fora sail on Saturday. Seems to go quite nicely, even with her original sails up. Even the kicker drum thingy worked well, as I had the rope threaded along side the port centreboard case, using what I asume is the spinnaker halyard bullseyes and cleats, etc. To that e...

Another Merlin Rocket on ebay
Here she is:

Down in Cornwall though, which will add a significant amount to the eventual purchase price when fuel for pickup is added.

Thought I would bring this up as the mast seems familiar.

Gently - Mast - Chris
Chris, I was routing around trying to find a reference to the mast that I have fitted to 950. It looks very like the mast you had when you got hold of Gently. I am refering to a post from last year. I am just curious if you still have it, and does it still have the top diamond fitted. Cheers Steve h

Well,
It must be difficult to write a book with every other person telling what needs to be in it!
Look forward to seeing it.

Re: The Merlin Rocket Book
On a personal note, perhaps we can get a mention of all the Proctor Mks as well. The only information I have gleaned about the mk VIII is what has been stated here on this forum. A Mk6 with a bit more Rocker? I.e. A boat designed for restricted water. Not campaigned by any of the leading crews. Not ...

Re: Merlin Rocket bits - 950
Here is the plan then: 1. Run as is with wire. 2. If I do not get on with it, that replace wire with 'modern' rope/cord. 3. If that still does not work, look at other options. I would prefer for it to work as it is a fair lump on the bottom of the mast that looks difficult to remove. And I hate carr...

Re: Merlin Rocket 950 - Time for a rub down
All, Sheave fitted - a fine bit of bodgery. Also rudder stripped and sanded. Split 'superglued'. Now ready to varnish tonight. It will only get a couple of coats by the weekend. But I can always bring it back and give it another one or two afterwards. I will start putting the fittings back on the hu...

Re: Merlin Rocket 950 - Time for a rub down
Cheers Rupert, I laid the jib halyard against the mast - down the side of the house, but have not yet connected a jib to it yet so I do not really know how far out I am yet with it. But no doubt I will be ringing you up next week, for an appointment with your mate...and his tools...Oooer! In the mea...
