Re: Merlin Rocket 1185 1961 99p

Mike Burrows, bike designer said that the way bike wheels are suspended is old fashioned and inefficient use of mass. Check out this link. http://bikefix.co.uk/standing-one-leg No other modern type of road transport has forks; except most bikes, wheel barrows and many motor bikes, wheels are mostly ...

Re: weighted dagger board.

Yes the sequences of getting the trimaran underway or wonderful.

Probably the only way forward for the F2 mast will be a newer plastic one. Are the mast extensions for alloy masts the same diameter as for plastic ones? This is all well before my time, I've never even seen an alloy sailboard mast!

Re: Wayfarer advice needed

Thanks for the comments on the Alpha, it came from the Newton Abbot recycling area, like my other board an F2 Lightning (unfortunately not the race version). The Alpha has no centerboard so as I want it on the water in June that will give me enough time to make one up. If I go back to transom sheeti...

Wayfarer advice needed

My club has just been given a Mark 2, all Grp Wayferer. The boat will just be used for recreational and training purposes, not racing. Firstly, it has a hybrid mainsheet system where the main runs from the end of the boom Laser style, along the boom to a block in the center, down to a double block w...

Re: weighted dagger board.

Just for accuracy, the Mirror, Gull and Heron don't have sliding gunter rigs. The Sliding gunter has a throat halyard as well and the peak halyard terminates on a track or wire on the front of the gaff to allow the sliding when throat halyard is eased. I used a sliding gunter when sailing those big ...

Re: weighted dagger board.

Just for fun then........... I like the previous idea of putting on a lightweight rig and also reefing it as above. So.... I like reefing but don't like having all that mast up there swinging around. Early 14s had sliding gunter rigs so the top mast came down as well. How about updating it? Use carb...

Re: weighted dagger board.

Hopefully the dagger/centerplate would be locked down with a pin. If you had an old Mirror you could easily replace the dagger board case with a wider one and use an Access type keel, you could even go as far as a central Access style seat. Borrow an Access keel from your local Sailability group and...

Re: weighted dagger board.

Uffa Fox thought that when Int 14 was not as good for sea conditons after the heavy bronze center plates went out. I think he had ones in the 60lbs range. So a weighted dagger board would certainly help. Access dinghys have a hollow weighted dagger board it's about 50mm thick. (30kg?) that extends a...

Re: More Moffs

That scow plan reminded me of the South African Dabchicks scows. I found them while looking at Sprogs as one came up locally recently.

They look like a lot of fun.
