Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
I tend just to tie a loop in the middle of the rope and then ensure the loop is centred when I tie each end. If you make them the right length, then the blocks will meet when the sail is pulled hard in. If you make them adjustable, then they can be made to meet in a range of conditions, but that ad...

Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
what is the best way to attach the block to the horse ?. When you say block to block, do you mean minimal gap between them when boom is directly over transom ? (going backwards from mast) I Am now wondering if this may be the problem. cheers. J

Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
^^^ pretty sure this will not work with the center main type set up described earlier in the thread.
would a split tail on the end of the mainsheet do it , and get rid of the horse and block.
Cheers. J

Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
It floats ! :D , sailed it a couple of times now with my daughter and generally its ok, A few small niggles but all should be easy fixes. One more question : I made a " horse " from 5mm line that runs between 2 fixing points on the transom either side of the tiller , about 10 " each s...

Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup
Thanks for all the advise , its much appreciated !. Have gone for a extra wooden block on the back of the case to move the stand-up block backwards about 3" , to give my crew more room to slide across the thwart. I never planned a "true" center main, but the type of setup described ab...

Re: recomisioning a mirror after a long layup

I am converting to center main, have mounted the bottom block on the rear of the c/b case. if the boom is in line with the center of the hull longways, where should the block on the boom go ?. if you took an imaginery v...

Re: triple stacker frame.
I have been asked to modifiy our club rib trailer to carry cadets above it, for when they visit the big events and need there own saftey boat. after looking around at what is commercialy available and how they do it, I have decided to use 40mm box for the upper frame to be safe !. HTH.

Re: miracle restoration
fit a round inspection cover to the bulkhead, to help it breathe. I am going to epoxy coat the floor areas of the tanks I can get at in my mirror to stop any pooled water soaking in, before it can be sponged out or evaporate when the hatches are left off.
