Re: PETRE MILNES SKIPPER 14

Yesterday at Plymouth I was watching a Skipper 14 (though it might have been a 12) beating up the Cattewater and coping very well with the conditions. Most of the other dinghies were struggling a bit to stay flat and the Skipper sailed serenely by to show that life doesn't have to be fight against t...

Re: Club Boats

I would endorse Pat's suggestion of the Comet Duo. We have used tham as a training fleet at Westbury for years and they have stood up to the regular battering that the youngsters dish out. We are starting to retire them after 15 years (and pass them on to Shearwater :D ). We have recently bought a C...

Re: Clywedog Event

I had hoped to bring the Grad along and sail on a decent sized lake. Even bought a new tent so the towbar was free for the boat :D Unfortunately the doc has diagnosed two slipped discs, so no more sailing for a while :( (that is unless I can sail without bending, twisting or lifting) At least it exp...

Re: Graduate??????????

Could be a bargain if the hull is good nick. Do you know what the hull number is? From the class database 211 would have been built in 1953 and 2027 in '67 or '68. Interesting that both the Grad mains have the "arrowhead" on the wrong side of the G. What I really want know though is to how...

Re: Whitefriars Classics and Lost classes meeting 29th March

And the puns get worse... What happened to "Tonic Wines" as a concept? About the only place I've seen such things in the last few years was in the shop at Buckfast Abbey. I've still not named the Tonic, by the way. Maybe we can come up with a name this weekend? And not the name I call her...

If you are going to Whitefriars I have an old Mirror daggerboard that is looking for new home. In fact if anyone needs them I have most of the bits for Mirror, all except for the hull that is...

Looks like the seller has decided it is a Grad. Now could I find somewhere to keep a second one...?

Re: What's this on ebay

A Graduate? If so a much underestimated boat sponsored initialy by a noe defuct magazine called Light Craft built I think by Wyche & Coppock. Grads were certainly built by Wyche and Coppock but plans and kits for home building were also available. This resulted in a few "non-standard"...

Composite Graduate

I have posed this question on the Graduate Association discussion boards and not got an answer so I thought I’d try the experts here. My Graduate is of composite construction, number 2146 and according to the RYA was probably first registered in May 1970. This is supported by the measurement date on...

Re: Dinghy Show

I will try to be there, but might need to pursuade "the bursar" that it is necessary expediture.
Today could be a good day to try as we have just taken delivery of an enormous television that was a prize at Excel (officially it's Catherine's but it is too big for her room :D ).

Re: Historical accuracy

I've always remembered the sentiment of the song and wanted to know which of their recordings it is played in. This was on the recording of "At the Drop of a Hat" and the track is called "Misalliance" In my younger days this and the sequel "At the Drop of Another Hat" ...

Re: Whitefriars - postponed due to the weather

Everything is upset by 4 inches (10cm) of snow here and it's so exaggerated. The snow shower last night is "a blizzard" despite the lack of wind and a friend must have been using the e-bay tape measure as he had "ten inches" of snow a couple of miles away! His neighbour cycled t...

Re: Handicap Racing

Two other factors that affect performance and have not yet been mentioned are wind and sea conditions. Since I have had new the main on the Graduate my performance in light winds has improved enormously. It was always pretty good but in the last couple of races I sailed that were real drifters I was...
