Re: 'nother old moff

Oh, it's not a Collar mast, or the maker's plate has fallen off!

Re: 'nother old moff

I volunteer with Dart Sailability and am going to Noss this next Tuesday. If you'd like me to check anything just ask. When I saw the boat last week I thought it couldn't be a Moth because it looked so wide and solid. It has a rather nice unstayed mast and an OK style boom to mast arrangement. Proba...

Re: Early Int. Moth info.

This maynot be a good place to put this up, but here is a good thread with info about Int Moths and some videos.

Re: Roland Europe

I think this is the picture that Brooksey remembered, it's in Sailing from start to finish by Yves-Louis Pinaud.
Somewhere he mentions that the Europe has a very long leech so you have to set the boom end and then alter the mast rake to get the leech tension right.

Cat odity

I came across this in the dinghy park next to the Higher Ferry at Dartmouth. It's been there a while judging by the way the deck is becoming integrated with the earth... It's 18ft long, the beams are 11ft long and the hulls about 1ft wide. It has two slots in the underside of each hull. These don't ...

Re: Only the Cornish...

A bit more on this oddity, Took some photos of the one at Mayflower SC and had a look at the sail in it. It is made by Mitchell sails of Fowey, so gave them a ring. The phone number on the sail dates it as at least 15 yrs old and they do not seem to have any more info at the moment. However this may...

Re: Scow, what is it?

I thought of the flipper scow as well, but I think it has a Topper like front end. Yes this boat does have a sort of veed transom bow.

Scow, what is it?

It's about 13-14ft, there is a mast near by with no signs of trapeze. There are self bailers either side of the CB case, which looks too long for a dagger board and too short for a normal CB. All GRP.

Re: Only the Cornish...

There was/is an identical boat to this at Mayflower SC, Plymouth. This maybe the same one, though I thought it was in better condition. It has a double hull, maybe a foam sandwich, the mast step is at the front of the gunwale high plate case. I thought that the plate may have looked a bit like the F...

Re: Restoration of Bonifaz

Ed's right about the cvrda purpose to be keeping old boats on the water. I'm a veteran of several starting with Enterprise 228 with its cotton sails and spinnaker to an old Gull, Nat 12, Mirror, ICs and Finns. If this boat was Shipshape's I would not have offered the advice above. This case is diffe...

Re: Restoration of Bonifaz

This is a small boat and it's worn out. When owners starty sticking stuff in the seams it's a sure sign the planking needs replacing. On old boats the planking moves and wears and the whole lot starts to leak. Using epoxy is a waste of time and effort. If the owner wants a boat that's easier to live...

Int 14 as fishing boat

I thought this is probably one of the most unlikely boats to make a fishing dinghy.
