Re: measurement certs

This is something I had been wondering about too...........what generally is the attitude towards certificates by clubs for us "fun" racers? For example is anyone really going to ask for a certificate on an old Mirror, or GP14 when it is obviously what it says on the sail, and (in our case...

Re: Mystery boat

Anything is possible Rupert.........and it would certainly attract some attention.......does sound a bit Arfur Daley though....the sort of stretched cut'n'shut that might turn up on his forecourt.... I can just hear his sales pitch now  Would have to be cut just aft of the plate box I think.......

Re: Moth merry-go-round

Hi Michael..........yes, I think my original question that started that extra long thread really started something.... I suppose other Mothies out there found the thread on Google, and were rather aptly drawn to the flame! :) Thanks for the links.....yes, I had found those archives.....very interest...

Re: Moth merry-go-round

Thanks David, that would be interesting :)..........Whether I'll fit in (or on really, with a Scow) remains to be seen.... I have never felt so unfit and inflexible at this time of year before, so some serious limbering up needed before attempting to sail this year!

Re: Single handed Mirror handicap

True Jim.... I did wonder that. It would be an interesting experiment to sail without a spinny, against one with spinny to test that out. I do have a spinny with mine, so all options covered really :)

Re: Single handed Mirror handicap

Hmmm, some interesting thoughts....thank you everyone. I've sailed Mirrors single handed many times, with jib, and in mast the aft position, and I know they are easy to handle, and sail very well with only my weight. I was thinking more along the lines of how the handicap would be set for sailing si...

Single handed Mirror handicap

Just pondering on something I have in mind for the future when I want more gentle sailing........Mirrors (and one or two other craft) have two mast positions, and although you rarely see the forward one used, I was wondering if there is a handicap rating for sailing a Mirror single handed using the ...

Re: UnSkol gets a newbottom...

Personally I would go with white, to minimize movement due to heat.......dark boats always cook up nicely inside the moment we get warm weather. This may be more important on this project due to the join in materials......just a thought. Orange and white actually looks good too in my opinion.....nic...

Re: Moth merry-go-round

Well, I'm back from the frozen North......and starting to think about all things Mothy. Ian.......thanks for the info.....I had sussed out her name and original owner too from an old yearbook (you can guarantee the thing you're looking for will be in the wxyz end when searching alphabetically!) but ...

Re: Moth merry-go-round

Thanks Phil....... I'm thinking of the same sort of cover really, so I'll get in touch with them when I'm ready to take her to the club.

Think I have the centreboard sussed out now too.....tricky though....standing on a stool trying to peer inside when she's on top of the car in the garage! :)
