...not if it's ribbed clinker and 16' long!
should be investigated and saved but may be a day boat rather than a dinghy class

Re: sounds like a vintage 14
The owner has had several people look at this boat and it had to be cleared by 15th October, so I went up and collected it on 14th. Mr Bowles had rescued it from a boatyard in Norfolk ten years ago and has stripped the structure and transon and scraped out the insides. Never had the time or resource...

1953; 'dinghy sailing' shows Merlins and others including Merlin 220 which I am rebuilding at the moment (thanks for spotting that Chris)
Loads of good footage especially for the twelves.

Re: Advice required - Slot Gasket fitting
mike mc namara of sailmaking and wayfarer fame wrote an excellent guide to slot gasket fitting which works perfectly. used to be on the wayfarer website but I can't find it now. You could email mike via his website; he's a very nice and helpful chap, makes amazingly good sails too.

Re: Twisting/bending 6mm plywood
If the decks are steeply curved and 6mm, they are probably pre-formed; ie layers of veneer layed up with adhesive on a former mould either male/female and maybe vacuum bagged. The finished component once set retains it's shape, cut to size then fixed in place. You can try cutting lines through the bo...

Re: Classic, wooden Finn
Neil I got in touch with the owner via the ad on the classic finn website and yesterday identified the boat by looking up the name on the transom, Terrapin, in the boat register. There is a mast bend measurement guide on the north sails website too. Do I presume that they or any other sailmaker coul...

Re: Classic, wooden Finn
Hi Graham would be very interested in a spare mast as the one that came with it has split top to bottom; daylight between the two halves for a metre from the top! It's repairable but this part might keep the boat off the water for too long. The rest of the boat is pretty sound but with very dry vene...

Re: Classic, wooden Finn
'tis a 1961 Fairey, no. 95 called Terrapin, acquired today and soon to be moved for refurb in Sidcup.
Spooky, because Merlin 36 is called Terrapin as well!
