Re: Otter 37

I have had some good sails in a Bermudan rigged Otter. Sailed from Stoke Gabriel to Dartmouth one day to watch the Red Arrows during regatta week. Had to row and sail back. Took two small children. Down on the Ebb and up on the flood. Smallest spent much of the time infront of the mast. The only pro...

Re: Work on Planet, N12 N672 1948

RD Culler in Skiffs and Schooners had the same issue of shrinking planks: His skiff bottoms were pine and treated with linseed oil and turps mixed and put on hot.(soaks into the wood better if nearly boiling) When he'd had a load of coats on he recommended lining the inside of the boat with Sacking ...

Re: Lugsail pram....Norfolk connection

This is a nice little boat, good lines. As there is no gooseneck fitting the boom probably was designed to project forward of the mast by a foot or so and the place on the yard where the halyard attaches probably should have a loop to go around tight around the mast so the whole rig is further forwa...

Boom for Low rider Moth or IC

We are clearing out our club house here in Stoke Gabriel prior to the move to the new one and are getting rid of left overs. See this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/281842630871? I have put 1980 as a reasonable date. I'd have used this on my IC if I still had it. It's a lovely light stiff section....

Re: Taking a bull by the horns.

I found the plastic waterpipe to flexible for a canoe, I'd definitely go for the carbon landing net handles!

Re: Most likely not an Uffa, but......

The first thing I thought when I saw the pic was 12sqm Sharpie, but it's not as it's round bildge.

It's got that Finn style centre plate that I associate with european pre war lake racers so Dutch sounds a good guess.

Minisail slightly odd .....or maybe not?

This minisail on the bay.

Owner says it has a sliding seat but I can see how and other bits look odd unless it is just a trick of the light.

Re: Sailaways Anonymous

In the add, it says built by Pearson Bros Hamble. Is this the same Pearsons who built Finns?

If so it looks like my old Pearson Finn with its wooden rubbing strips.......I can see why you might be attracted. Despite the crude rig it is a pretty boat.

Re: seagull outboard

My Dad attached a large plastic rudder blade to our very slow 12ft cruising dinghy's 3.5hp Yamaha back in the 70's, he wanted to be able to steer the boat without the engine pushing. Worked ok, "rudder blade" was about a foot square behind the prop on aluminium brackets. However it really ...

Are there any maker's names on the cleats? This may help to decide on its nationality.

Re: Corsa 16?

There is a Strale in Coronation park in Dartmouth, cross between an FD and a 505 shallower than both and fully double bottomed, it has a maker's plate on the front bulkhead port side rivetted on, wooden bar that goes across the transom to support the top of the rudder stock is gently curved., nice b...

Re: Finn mast step

You have the luxury of screws that will/may come out. I'm envious, my old Pearson one was glassed in and un moveable. This looks odd. The T handle certainly looks wrong and will not rotate. Some one has been mixing metals in a corrosive environment .........again.........sigh. :( Look on the bright ...
