Lost classes.....Wizard

Thinking about DH's post on lost classes reminds me of a single hander called a Wizard that was like a cross between an IC and a TOY. It was all grp, I think had main and Jib and a short TOY like sliding seat. I think I saw it at the Southampton boat show and at Picketts Lock in the early 80's.....p...

Re: Finn for sale.

Good comments from Brooksey, the boat has a sail numbered 242 with it, however this does not mean much in Finn terms as sails tend to get swapped around. I've had a good look for a number but have found none, my previous Finn 149 had it engraved below the Pearson plate on the back of the cockpit. Th...

Finn for sale.

Due to change of circumstances I'm not going to be able to finish restoring my Finn over the winter and anyway will have very limitted time to use it next year, so maybe someone will finish it and use it. It's an all white GRP Pearson. It needs the control lines from the mast finishing, the kicker s...

Re: A couple of Mirror problems

Just to confirm, the spine does not go into the front tank. My cruising mirror has two 10" hatches either side of the centre line in the front tank. You can get a good deal of kit in there, and if you leave them off over the winter it really helps keep the rot at bay. She also has hatches in al...

Re: Power tools

I have had a green Bosch random orbit PEX 12AE 400watt for about 10 years now. It's done everything, boats, floors etc. It's had 3 new velcro bases as they do seem to wear out. I like the velcro bases cos the holes allow good dust extraction with a hoover (I have a knackered Dyson DC01). The velcro ...

Gel coat

Hi all,

This isn't really about old boats, but I'll ask here anyway....

A Sonar keel boat I'm looking after has a scratch through the gel coat into the laminate. It's years since I had a glass boat to deal with and I've forgotten how to replace gelcoat. Any one have any advice or good links?

Re: Enterprise - again!!

Hi all, Just looking at these pictures brings back memories! I had E228 with original cotton sails and also a spinnaker...however I digress The real reason I'm writing here is to ask why on all ents do the deck knees finnish short of the stringer. On my old boat I replaces all the knees with new one...

Re: Mirror 16

Hi there, I'm really interested in the Mirror 16 and came across this site in Aus with lots of info and pictures. There are people on it who are getting the boat out on autoCAD so we will be able to download offsets to produce panels. Looks good. http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/wooden-boat-building...

Bosun

Hi all,

I've been thinking of getting a Bosun and even though it was designed by Ian Prictor it looks similar in shape to many of Uffa's designs. Does anyone have any comments on this?
