It does talk about mast rake, and also says get new sails made that fit your old rig as any other secondhand ones probaly will be no good. If the article's not there now let me know as I thi...

An old decorator chap I knew always floated a very thin skim of thinners on top of paint/varnish before putting the lid on firmly and storing the tin away without shaking it up.It usually does stop a skin forming. He also would decant some varnish into another pot or 'kettle' to work with, replacing...

The two values simply don't match up. 3) I'll take the risk if the boat is totally d...

Merlin 2121 For sale. Half-Cut She's a Proctor ixd which is a six foot wide version of the famous 9 series, built by Bob Hoare in 1968. I had to put new ply on the two side decks a few years ago and is revarnished and painted.Looking good. The original traveller is still in place. (apparently it's a...

Cascamite... now called Extramite. Supposidly offered as suitable for small boatbuilding. I think it has problems! It may say it has some small gap filling properties but it doesn't. As it is a powder that you mix with water but sets by a chemical reaction the moisture is slowly released and shrinks...

Merlins have plenty of space under the boom but they'll keep you on your toes too. (I just happen to have Merlin 2121 for sale if you're interested...so my above comments are completely unbiased of course) Strictly speaking 2121 is still a classic (or is it OLD?)(built 1968) as it's not a fully ribb...
