Hi Roger,
I am definitely interested as it may well be another boat worth saving. There are very few wide Moths that have survived from the 60s and 70s so any that do appear need to be preserved if at all possible.
If you get any more details please let me know.
Regards

Re: Blithfield event
Even windier today and a change of wind direction which made for some exciting reaches. Many thanks to Luke and all those at Blithfield whose hard work made the event truly enjoyable and a great success in every way. The club made us all feel very welcome and have already said that they would be gla...

Re: Blithfield event
Hi again Chris, I have been in touch with Peter male and it seems as though we shouldn't have any problems arriving Friday evening although he did mention something about "party games" being planned on the field as part of the function. We are happy to stay on the carpark if that turns out...

Re: Seafly Spinnaker Required
Hi Corms, I have a Bosun spinnaker in very good condition if that's of any interest. At 110 sq ft the Bosun kite is slightly smaller than the Seafly's maximum of 135 sq ft , but it would probably fit pretty well. I have used it once on an Enterprise and it set quite nicely. It is light blue and is u...

Re: Blithfield event
Quick update - can anyone intending to camp on Friday please phone Peter male (07798785849) to obtain access to the field. Does that include Campervans and Motorhomes or do we stay on the carpark? Wendy and I are hoping to come and would expect to arrive Friday evening. I am planning to bring my Sh...

Re: rudder was it off then?
With that trail angle it has a hint of OK about it. That might also explain the lifting wishbone tiller as there would be no transom port to get in the way. Thoughts anyone?

Re: National 12 Mast lengths
Hi Stephen, I may have a section of Proctor C about 7 ft long that was originally the bottom of a mast that was broken further up. I was planning to make a boom out of it, but that plan has been superceded so it is effectively surplus. Let me know if you are interested and if so I am to the West of ...

Re: Enterprise sail advice please
IF you google "Enterprise Class Rules" you will find all the dimensions for cruising sails with both the main and jib being smaller than the racing sails. The cruising main is between 888 mm and 1040 mm shorter on the luff and 610mm shorter on the leech if you go by the mast and boom black...

Re: Magnum 8 on ebay
As I pointed out earlier in this thread it is definitely a Magnum 5! Yes, the Magnum 5 and 6 both had the drag reducing chine from the transom forward for 3 to 4 feet. It was partly there to aid building so that the tortured ply could be overlapped avoiding such a tight radius towards the stern. The...

Re: Magnum 8 on ebay
Yes it looks worth rescuing and shouldn't take too much work to get it back on the water, however it is definitely not a Magnum 8 as it is in fact a Magnum 5! That said, it will be a bit more stable than an 8 and will certainly qualify under CVRDA rules as it will have been built before 1985. It wou...

Re: Moth Rocker
Hi Jim, 1) Max rocker for the Europe is 150 mm at a point 2000mm forward of the transom. 2) Max rocker for the Shelley Mk 1 is also 150mm , but is further aft at a point approx 1981mm from the transom. Note: The Shelley rocker line is a much smoother curve than the Europe which has a curve that tigh...

Re: Remember, its lasted for forty years, it must
Nice job, but what about the other side...? Be a shame to break it again after all that hard work! Note: My Shelley, which was home built by Mr J Moore on the Island in 67/68, survived the 30 mph gusts on the Sunday at Bosham so the 40 year rule sometimes applies. I did break a wooden batten though ...

Re: Bosham Classic Boat Revival
This is how we found the boat Oh dear Nessa, I was extremely sorry to hear of your misfortune with the poor old Kestrel after we arrived home on Sunday and she certainly looks in a sorry state judging by the linked photo. I'm afraid that I can't really comment on the various rescue crews abilities ...

Re: Nationals 2012.
Thanks to everyone who made the National Rally such a fun and friendly event, I really must try to get to a few more events in future! With regard to the Moth handicaps it looks as though the numbers for the Yellow Peril and the Purple Magnum have simply been muddled up. With my Magnum 6 on 92 a fig...
