Re: magnum 8 info
Hi Stu, I have been looking for a decent photo of "Prime 8" , but haven't been able come up with anything that shows the name very clearly. From memory it was a stylised version of the way I have written it with the intention of sounding like "primate" when read aloud. As for the...

Re: "Ladies" Finn rig for sale
If anyone is interested let me know - looking for around £100 for it. I'll try and get some pics if it ever stops raining. Hi Neil, I may well be interested if you still have it. Is it possible to provide some dimensions (Luff and Foot) and pictures to help me decide if it might suit one of my proj...

Re: Nationals 2012.
I can bring a spare prodder which may fit your mast depending on the type of fitting yours has. Bring your broken one anyway and maybe we can effect a repair. Is your prodder ally or carbon?

Re: Nationals 2012.
Hi Nessa, Moth Wings: I am trailing my 6 with the wings and tramps still on which is how I used to do it back in the day. The max beam of the wings was decided by the legal width limit for trailing so no problems with the law, you just need to remember to leave a bit more room than normal when drivi...

Re: Nationals 2012.
Hello again, I have decided to come along to Bough Beech after all, however, due to the problems associated with bringing our four legged friend I will be coming on my own and spending a bit less time there than originally planned. As hinted at by Rupert I have elected to bring my Magnum 6 Int Moth ...

Re: Blithfield event 2013
I haven't been to Blithfield for a number of years so it would be nice to go there again especially as it's not too far away from us. I would certainly consider attending a CVRDA event there next season particularly if the Dog situation is less restrictive than Bough Beech. What is the club/ Water a...

Re: Int Moth Sail
Suprisingly difficult to find someone who has cut a good bolt rope Moth sail in the recent past and is still happy to do it. Of the two obvious contenders one is semi retired and no longer has the space and the other isn't keen either. Hi Jim, Out of interest who do you consider the 2 obvious conte...

[quote][quote="JB9"]The Water Company do not allow dogs on Water Co land which includes the car park. Unfortunately that probably means that we won't be coming after all, unless there is somewhere else we can park up for the weekend that isn't on Water Authority premises and is walkable di...

Re: Nationals 2012.
Hi, We are also planning to arrive on Friday evening in a fair sized Motorhome towing the boat, is this likely to present a problem or will we be able to find a space to park up ok? Also, what is the club/ Water authority's position on dogs as we were hoping to bring Baxter? I am pretty sure that th...

Re: lowrider for sale on ebay
Stu is quite right in saying that 3908 was originally Clive Everest's boat and is indeed a Magnum 8. It is also slightly unusual in that unlike most other 8s it does not have the high domed foredeck so the boom is attached to the mast well above the base more like the rig on a Magnum 6. Melvyn Coope...

Re: Insect control.
Sorry Alan, but I don't think that I have missed the point at all. If you re-read my post all I was doing was having a tongue in cheek attempt at showing how the word "modern" can be interpreted in several ways depending on your point of view. I took it that Brookesy was simply passing com...

Re: Insect control.
I have not been on the forum for a while and thought I was on the wrong one. there seems to be a huge influx of a certain modern boat maybe its the weather bringing them out but a dose of DDT may put things right. Nessa's quite right. The first boat that became the basis of the Moth class...

Re: Nationals 2012.
I am also planning to take a Moth to Bough Beech, although I haven't made my mind up which one yet. It may depend on which one is the nearest to being ready or least likely to break, but either way I will be there sailing a Moth of some description. Regards Ian M P.S. Re: Low rider moth fest.
Jon, I would suggest that It's more likely to be an 8 having looked at the photos and by the way I think that you may also be wrong about being "devilishly handsome " at some imaginary period in the past...unless of course we both were in which case I'll let it stand! If it is an 8 then un...

Re: magnum 6 info
Thanks Ian , have you got any info on any of the magnum 7 as mate of mine has one but can't find a hull number and has several sail numbers Thanks stu Hi Stu, There weren't all that many Magnum 7s built as they were designed to carry a bit more weight and had a bit more rocker than the 5 and 6. The...
