Re: best way to remove two pot varnish?

Being in a similar position, but having removed said epoxy, what does the panel recommend recoating with ~ Epoxy or Varnish? I am favouring varnish as a) I haven't been successful coating with epoxy previously, and b) I can eventually restrip and revarnish varnish finish easier when it needs in the ...

Old Games...(?)

To follow on from the 'Old Books' thread, I'd be interested in knowing what vintage dinghy related board games anyone has? Sadly I only have a 1960's jigsaw featuring Enterprises launching, and a board game called 'Olympic Yachting'... "all the thrills of being an Olympic Yachtsman in Kingston ...

Re: Old books

One of my favourites is a copy of a book titled 'Dinghy Cruising' by A.G. Earl dated 1948. It features the author's 'Parkstone Yacht Club Dinghy Class'.
I haven't found a good classic sailing book in a charity shop or jumble sale for several years now......

Re: Tabernackle

I have an Otter with a gunter rig and the mast rotates on a pin inserted into the foredeck and the base of the mast. I made a 'bearing' to rotate upon from tufnol. I use a pin made of solid stainless steel and have a spare made from alloy. The pins are only such material as i had to hand, biut are s...

Re: dinghy indentification

Alternatively, if you have the mainsail (the bigger sail) and it has an N on it, it's a National 12 or if it's got a black triangle / witches hat shape, it's a Merlin........

Is there such a thing as an 'Achat' class dinghy?

Can anyone confirm that there is an ‘Achat’ class, or is it the makers’ name? It is 4.1m long and 1.65wide with a steel centreplate and lockable hatch in the foredeck. It is seemingly abandoned at my club and we are needing to identify the boat in the hope of tracing the owner. It seems to have a Ge...

Piranha Int Canoe deck layout query

My Piranha mk 2 (I believe it to be ) needs the daggerboard and control cleats area tidying. The foredeck to the rear of the mast turret has a large aperture for access to the daggerboard slot, but I don't have the hatch cover. (Presumably there was one originally) The optionas are Leave as it, whic...
