Re: Oulton Week 2010

Garry, put out the feelers for a crew, I have asked for an experienced juniour and am confidant we can find one! For any one else who is thinking of coming, but crewless, I'm sure our juniour (I wish I could spell that word!!) fleet will oblige!!

Re: Rumours from Netley

I must admit sending all 15 (YES fifteen!!) of the little cherubs home broke my heart. The look on thier faces when they were told they were black flagged, would have made the hardest man cry, but as they said at the War Trials "I was only following orders"!! But I do have the feelin...

Re: Viking dinghy

Yeah, it does, could it be that the bits of the Oulton Gull came from this boat too?

Re: Merlin Rocket bits - 950

Try reducing the size of the picture...

Not sure how you do it, but there have been previous comments before..

Try a search on the site, I think that, you may find the answer....

Re: 12 sq Metre Sharpies

Well, it is advertised at both Brancaster Staithe SC and Wells SC both UK Mainstays of the Sharpie. But a good point, I will drop a line to James Case (He (just),beat me at Wells, 3 years ago in his Phantom, and came third in the Sharpie nationals that year with David Frary crewing). A good reminder...

Re: Moving Quickly Along - Merlin 950

Considering she's an old lady - dosn't sound too bad - although the car filler repair with cardboard backing, made me cringe!! We used to get loads of boats at the yard that were repaired in such a way!!! Brought back memories... (Must have been owned by a Broad's sailor at sometime!!)

Re: My legs still hurt...BB

OOOHHH it is just too tempting, I can not hold back (sorry DH) But, as I am such a light weight we need the weight somewhere, and the only way I have ever managed to put weight on was when we did the Wayfarer nationals at Whitstable in late 80's early 90's. BUT, it was not a healthy way to pu...

David, Don't worry, you will have a Broads sailor on board. We are used to those style of courses, and those fickle winds.... "Let me take you buy the hand and lead you round the marks of Shearwater, I'll tell you something that will make you change your mind"!! appologies to Ralph McTell....

Re: My legs still hurt...BB

. After the race I was talking to someone from a wide merlin and he said he had to sit up on the side but only leant backwards a couple of times! Arrrgh...not what I wanted to hear! Maybe no one mentioned the narrow ones can be harder work than a wide one in a breeze! - but I think we did very well...

Re: kicker take off point

Right that's it, has anyone got a set of cotten sails for a Smokers, and a wooden mast please!!     Only jesting, I actually think that the sails and mast on 3025 may very well have been original, and that is what frightens me, when I recall how lovely your cotten set looks...

Re: Glue - Crystalisation

I think your right Jim, can't find a copy of the class rules at present, but feel fairly sure there is something about radii in there, otherwise you could have a clinker built boat, with all the clinkers faired out (with Epoxy) - that would be a smooth skin Merlin, which is being discussed on the MR...
