What about the Sprog - the original South African design from which the Scorpion developed?

Re: The Lost Classes will Rule........beware
Not a "Mercury" by any chance? I haven't seen a "poor Man's International 14" for over 40 years.

Re: Walker "Tideway" pulling dinghy
Good try, Brooksey. Even I'm not that generous !! However, the Finn has a double trailer so if I do get to sell it and deliver it to the South, I could POSSIBLY put thr Walker on top. Might anyone be interested for a small contribution to my fuel?? Bear in mind, there are a lot of ifs and buts; howe...

Walker "Tideway" pulling dinghy
I have a Walker "Tideway" dinghy - the pulling version; ie no centreboard box or foredeck but the same hull shape as the Tideway dinghy. It is varnished both out and in. The inside is largely original but the outside was stripped back to bare and varnished with Schooner a few years ago. Ap...

Re: A question about the racing rules
Nigel, your latter assumption is correct. You must first unwind yourself and then go around the mark the correct way. Your "piece of string" analogy is correct.

Re: Contender?
Dougal, the poor Swede was nearly the late Swede! I can recall sitting in the bottom of my Contender with all the broken bits shipshape and strapped down when the Swede (I think his name was Lindahl) capsized next to me. He disappeared down wind still upside down - bear in mind that it had been blow...

Re: Contender?
Definitely an early Contender. I'm probably the one to blame for putting Transom (or more precisely, end of boom sheeting) on the Contender. I'm also to blame for putting lowers on. I built my Contender (IR1) in Freddie Gale's shed in Ickenham in 1972 from a kit. GRP shell plus timber deck and cockp...

Re: Identification ?
Definitely NOT a Fleetwind. I sailed these for about four years from 1964. Fleetwinds had parallel side decks all the way to the transom about 10" wide, with no stern tank; Much flatter on the chine. Graduates were our nemesis at the time. Slightly lower PY but we loved beating them!!! The Grad...

Re: Whereabouts of Fairey Finn K20??
Thanks Peter. I remember Mike (and Wendy) very well. I was aware that he was in Whitstable but not of the connection to K20. Greatly appreciated.

Whereabouts of Fairey Finn K20??
After 40 years I have returned to sailing a Finn once again. My first Finn was a lovely varnished Fairey complete with Collar mast, mast wedge instead of vang and an old Ratsey and Lapthorn mainsail. It went magnificently in Inland waters beating the likes of Venon Stratton, Jack Knigts and Brian Sa...

Re: Identification ?
A bit short for a Scorpion and the rise on the transom looks too much. Possibly a Graduate? They too had deck stepped masts.
