How many feet?

Post by JimC »

Saw this on another forum, but could be fun here... Who has the most boat in feet...
Currently i've got
IC 17
I Moth 11
11+ 11
Cherub 12
B moth 11 (sort of)!!

= 62.
I reckon our winner will be well in treble figures...

This could be fun but definately dont let SWMBO get to see it.
And remember...size doesn't matter! :?

So... Firefly, 12ft
I.C 18ft
National 14 14ft
Mirror 10ft

Thats 54 feet of sail

To that I could add a L***r but I presume that might attract a -ve score! -14ft

= 40, (with a -ve score,) 54 if we quietly ignore it, and 68 if we are paying for a pontoon in the marina!.

Now we get to the interesting bits and pieces.
Salters Double (Fibreglass) River "Skiff" 22ft
Carl Douglas Wood Carbon composite)Single Scull 26ft
Sims Single (Wooden) scull 27ft
Len Neville Aluminium Scull 27ft
Hasler "Peanut" (Childs) rowing dinghy 4ft
Sit on Canoe 12 ft
Surf slipper canoe 6ft
Windsurfer "Lightning Race" 12ft
Windsurfer Training board 8ft
Avon Redcrest inflatable 7ft

Thats 151 ft of "other" guilty pleasures.

If I "big it up" then, I could claim 219 ft of pontoon space in the marina. (Just under 3.33 chains.)

I'm going to need a spreadsheet to work this out!
138.83 total of which 67ft is cvrda eligible - too many Larks!
Albacore, Merlin, Merlin Rocket, Bobbin and Zoom = 67ft

plus two zodiacs at 3.2m (10.5ft each). Do bodyboards count? ;-)

Gosh, my collection very depleted at moment, and you don't say whether the boat has to be 'ready to go' or whether you can include boats waiting for re-build or to be finished, but lets see.

Sailing Dinghies:

Jollyboat J3 18ft
Jollyboat J335 awaiting re-build 18ft
IC GBR242 17ft
IC Shell unfinished 17ft
MR 638 awaiting re-build 14ft
Firefly 2942 12ft
Tideway 147 needs some work 12ft

So I guess this is a score of: 108

If you include other stuff, it gets harder.... but I guess this could include:

Phelps Scull 27ft
Bathurst Whiff 24ft
Looe River Boat 14ft
Kayak - 3 man 14ft
Kayak - 1 man 9ft

which would be another 89ft or so....

then there would be a bundle of windsurf boards, but that would tax me a little to work out.

What about 'cc' across your vehicles?

Reckon I have 7222cc across 7 vehicles, mainly bikes of course.....

later
Ed Bremner
CVRDA

Jollyboat J3
Firefly F2942
IC GBR314 ex S51 - 1970 Slurp
MR 638 - Please come and take it away
Phelps Scull
Bathurst Whiff - looking for someone to love it

Hmm.......

National 18
Finn
Merlin Rocket

= 46'

+

Prospector canadian canoe 16'
Skin on Frame canadian canoe 15'
pram dinghy 8'
paddleboard 12'
longboard 9'

= another 60'

so 106' in all. more than enough.

MR 2404 Julia Dream
N18 276 Sibrwd [ongoing project]
Hirondelle catamaran Kalipse

Tideway + Tideway + Merlin + Newhaven Beach Boat = 56 ft and a lot more fun than a single 56ft boat I'll bet.
Tideway 206
11+
Sold the 'Something bigger and plastic', it never got used.

4x14, 1x15, 1x15.5ft, 1x10ft (is a topper 10'?)
, but two are Amy's
Not so imprerssive compared to some!

But my wooden masts add up to 137.5ft :D , all but one are 'together' but one is missing the bottom two feet.

BM = 11. Mirror = 11, Unit = 16, Trio = 15 (but does not count?) Skol Moth = 11 Nat 12 = 12 - 51 or 66 depending on how you count.

They used to say the cost of owning and operating a boat was a function of the cube of its length. Oh No.....

3 Finns, and 3 zeniths (1 knackered) = 87 3/4'

Reminds me I must try to get down to 'just' 2 of each in 2015!

Mmm, but 11^3 *3 is an awful lot less than 33^3.

It's a crude representation of a boat being a 3 dimensional object in which all dimensions tend to increase roughly in proportion.

Let's see.....

AC - 17'
IC - 17'
Cherub - 12'
National 12 - 12'
(not sure if this really counts, but....) L***r - 14'
And I am really unsure that the Farr 3.7 counts, considering is it still just a frame (might as well though  !) - 12'

So, take your pick from; 58', 70', 72', and 84'
AC 298 TimeWarp
Cherub 2627 - Sgt Murphy (nee Last Amber Dragon)
Farr 3.7 (slowly progressing build)
National 12 3337

11900cc from 3 Land Rovers (got another V8 today  ) and a Mini.

In terms of boat length I have a woeful collection
Zenith, Hit and Megabyte so about 47'

Add the SUPs and Kayaks then that's another 47'

In the days when I got into double figures of boat ownership it was around the 170' mark. Alan must have the longest waterline length for single boat with the Shark having 40'
