Hi;

has anuone here sailed a Mirror 16? As there is a nice looking (but very ugly) one on ebay right now. So what are they like to sail? And when were they built? I can not find anything about them using google, they dont seem to have a class association. So no one loves them, it seems.

Used to be one in Bristol docks.....

rather heavy and ungainly I thought.....

Mirror 14 (Marauder) is alltogether a much nicer dinghy.

cheers

Hi John! I too saw the boat. They looked terrible but have been told they sail rather well. Would be good with a bad back. Mirror 14 an altogether different beast! Quick, though. The 16 would have a cvrda handicap of 92, where a wayfarer is 97. I think the 16 would get into cvrda as a lost class!

Hi Great boat lots of pace and space. Built one as part of a school sailing club project. Took years of hammering by school kids. Lighter than a Wayfarer, alot faster than a Wayfarer. More comfortable to camping in flat floor self draining no plate case as doubled bottom. Good reefing system. Nicer boat all round than Wayfarer. Boat is not ugly but a classic chined Holt design. Still feel Hornet best looking boat about looks hellish fast even on road trolley.
Holt fan.

Wow! Zooks! Lots of people wanted it - its gone for 1071 quid - hugely expensive I think.

Thanks for your views Alan - space and pace is what I am looking for.
