Hunting for F2495

Post by Rupert »

I have received an email from Peter Lanham, holder of all Firefly building records can anyone help, please?

"A request from our friends of the National Firefly Association, who on behalf of Phil Milanes (well known creator of great foils from his Devizes workshop) are looking for F2495, "Bop". She was built up from a Fairey Marine kit by Phil in February 1960 and raced with much success from Bosham SC, then with a light olive green hull, varnished Mark l decks, and varnished interior. Fairey hull number 2553. Phil sold her on to John Ayling (based at Dell Quay SC) about 1967 when Phil built F3146, but nothing has been heard of "Bop" since the early 1970's.

There is no more recent detail in the records of the RYA either.

Please - if anybody out there has come across this Firefly, please kindly make a post here in reply or let us know!

Many thanks indeed -

Peter Lanham

Rupert, I have forwarded your post to Bosham SC and Dell Quay SC just in case anyone remembers and can help.

Rupert,

Bosham SC kindly answered and supplied the name of the chap they sold her to in the 1970s.

Seems as if his parents still live at the address so there is good hope to track her down.

Mail was sent to Peter

Hope they are successful.
