Hypochlorite = Miltons fluid (Bottle sterilising solution) = Bleach!

Actually produces free radical Oxygen, and therefore an Oxidising agent. In chemical terms, an "Electron donor." In common language, a Bleach.

All the Halides (Including Chloride) do this. Like Oxygen they are from the lighter elements on the Right hand side of the Periodic table.

Hypochlorite 2Na(HClO3-) will form H20 + 2NaCl + 3O2 (But in the reaction a substantial amount of the O2 is in its "Free radical" form (Not yet covalently bonded) and so forms a Strong, if short lasting bleach. The delight of Hypochlorite is that it leaves behend a neutral product.

In contrast, a Chlrine producing bleach makes Chlorine + Water => HCl and O2, leaving behind an Acid (Hydrochloric!)

I feel it is time to revive this old thread as I have finally started making some progress.

I have put some additional stuff on a few other threads, including

"Room to swing a cat..." viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5405

"Loving the hot weather:- Summer paint job..." download/file.php?id=1565

"International Canoe anyone?..." viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5430&p=46635#p46635

And a little bit here in "Re Of of the shed..." viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5169

The position with Torment has at last been moving forward. I have a full set of photos in a Photobucket album in which I will be adding captions.

The file of course is utterly self indulgent. I you haven't the patience to look at another man's interest, here is a teaser...

Have always been and still am very jealous of this boat! Glad you got it though.

Just wish I had got K101 Dicey when the chance was there and it was still in original 'non-modernised' state. They would of made a lovely pair.

Really missing having a classic canoe.

Hi Michael,

I never thought that I'd say this but I'm suffering a bad attack of canoe envy.

Given that one of your colleagues has cast doubts on the advisability of trapezing in future (even when I do start moving again) - which could rule out the contender, would a canoe fill the gap (unless another Hit comes along....). If, as I intend and is my goal to aim for, that I'm back afloat in 2015, can I gave a go?

Cheers

Why are the traveller control lines crossed over?

Michael,

She looks lovely...

Will you be doing any of the IC events in her, or keeping her for the classic stuff?

Cheers,

Max

Also, will you be keeping her with original fittings? I have heard those 'cheese cutters' can be nasty things...

I have no idea. I wonder if the previous owner just put it away that way, or perhaps would make an adjustment during the tack.

Perhaps it is something to do with stern sheeted booms. The previous owner is no longer with us, so it will be a mystery for now...

"Bacon slicer" was the (rather worrying) term I had heard!

and (in spite of ) the sake of (my) posterity, I plan for the moment to keep things absolutely original.

Indeed. Actually what I meant was "Posteriority."

As Ed might have said, it is all about the callipygian properties of a canoe.
