I don't know why bilge pumps went out of favour in dinghies, really...

Any hints here on stopping the thin Mylar stick on flaps from bending where the rope is attached, so opening gaps at the bottom?

I'm using thin flexi plastic this season with no seals or elastic. If I'm at the stern wrangling the rudder the water pressure on the outside holds them shut, otherwise they just flap in the breeze. All seems to work very well so far.......
