Minim gets a make-over

Post by Rupert »

Must teach Charlie how to strip paint!

I painted Minim black when I got her (it doesn't show the tyre marks from the bank, and I had a bit tin full) but what colour should I paint her when I'm done stripping?

I seem to remember a thread about which colours are the fastest and someone came up with a valid scientific theory that white is fastest.
Therefore most people will probably want you to keep it black! :D

Red was the fastest colour in Int Moths, and would go nicely with the sail, I guess. White? No. bit like white clothes, they don't stay white long!

The one thing to remember about dark colours (and black) is that they get very hot out in the sun. Doesn't do an awful lot of good to joints and seams etc.

What about...Dazzle Camoflage?! (Ive always wanted to try out a Flying lifeboat, and the intent here is to make the U-boat commandant think you are doing the opposite of what you are doing!)

Just imagine the insurance claim - "I thought he was going in the other direction"...

Not sure my painting skills are up to that!

Helmsman Graphspeed...! My mother remembered it, what a mess to achieve that matt but so slick finish! Grey dust everywhere for weeks after...

How about International 'Go Fast White'? It was like painting with chewing gum!!! :D

Smoothy pink is what I remember.

However, the more manly red paint is now bought. But do I need a red Minisail polo shirt to go with it?

Wow, good job, varnish looks ok to me, (not a varnish expert though).

Oh good - I hear red is the heaviest pigment and needs most coats to cover so that should slow Rupert down a bit ;-)
