How to post images

Post by neil »

Do you want to include images in your posts?

Image

If you want to post your own images you need to include a link to its location inside a pair of Image tags.

So the text I used to include the image above was

Please note that HTML is switched off but a short hand Forum Code is used to add some bells and whistles to your text.

If you have any problems posting pictures let me know

I think that the main problem for most people is that they don't have any Web space on which to put the images in the first place.

I am not sure if there is any way around this.....I know there are some simple scripts that allow you to upload to a Web folder.....but I am not sure if we want to do this without having some password as it might open a bundle of security problems.

I will think further

cheers

eib

ps.....it might be possible somehow with blogger.com, which does now allow you to post images.

If you don't have webspace and want to somewhere to store images the easiest way is to use a free image hosting servcie such as photobucket - http://www.photobucket.com/

If you have multiple images of a restoration or a special boat or an event, you can email them to me (click button below for details) for gallery posting.
If there's too many, just post me a cd - email for address.

SEND IN YOUR PICTURES!!

I am setting up a gallery PC with a fixed IP address - I'm prepared to create a CVRDA gallery on it with editing access restricted to people I know... would you like that? You could upload any number of images and there would be NO ADVERTISING!!

If you want to try this out, email me a picture or two and I'll put them in myself for now, and let you know the URL.

For example;

http://82.153.180.65/gallery2/main.php? ... alNumber=2

or in its context:

http://82.153.180.65/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21

jpa - we've almost got the Coppermine setup sorted. I'm busy uploading the latest events images to it and it will allow logged in users to upload images also.
No, we aren't ready to give logins yet but you can check out the gallery via the menu above.

Ed - I've done them!! Forum works fine.
The galleries can be viewed by clicking the gallery option in the menu then New Galleries on the resulting page.
Once the old galleries are replaced I'll change the javascript links.

John,

would you consider adding a little space on the website for a "Look what I saw today" section. THen, if anyone is out and about and sees a boat that is worthy of recording (all too often this will be out in the long grass somewhere) then it can be recorded with a brief note of the where and when.

The rogues gallery though is a great idea...

Pat,

this is very good - just what we need for a bit of profile.

Would it be possible to set up another folder/subsection as a 'lost in the long grass'? If you could, I would set the ball rolling by taking a few shots of various hulls that I know are laying around.

The other idea would be for a 'Lost Classes A-Z' - with Pictures.

I would like to make the 2008 the 'Year of the Lost Class' - let us really see if we can lure some of the true 'lost classes' out of hiding with the intention of getting them along to Netley.

Cheers
