SPAM WARNING

Post by Pat »

If you receive an email along these lines:
Dear Customer,
This e-mail was send by cvrda.org to notify you that we have temporanly prevented access to your account.
We have reasons to beleive that your account may have been accessed by someone else. Please run this file and Follow instructions:
Do NOT run the file. It is spam. I had 8 of these today apparently from cvrda but in reality from different addresses.

Does this have anything to do with the Forum page "crashing" on Sunday? (I got a message on the screen saying it was "Inaccessible due to "Multiple" requests" or something to that effect. It took about 8 hours to get better. (AG had the same problem)

Pass. Sundays are for sailing (or boat jumbling in our case) and a popular time for site maintenance which may be the reason.

This has nothing to do with the forum downtime. This spam email is generated by a 3rd party.

Does anyone else get spam filter proof emails from "alanatcvrda.org", which, as they are generally trying to make me interested in slimming pills or young ladies from Russia, I assume are not from our Alan...

Yes I get the lot. There's three or four addresses for which I can't turn on spamguard too. Mailwasher Free quickly sorts them out and flags up the spam for deletion leaving me to download the genuine.
I've replaced a number of harvestable addresses on the site with images but can't alter the forum.
