Not impossible......

we have a loose contact there.

IC europeans were held there and were run by Peter Mclaren - ex secretary of ICs and used to sail at Chew Valley when I was around Bristol.

I have loosely talked to him about it in past (well 2005 at IC worlds)

How many would turn up?

cheers

depends on midges !!

canoes seemed to have a good time. I'd certainly consider it, and tie in with a holiday, but what boat to take? Canoe - OK?
The only canoe sailor in MY village too !

Sandy said yesterday that we've got to sail in Scotland again - as if he needs an excuse to visit the family :D

There is Neil Wilson in an old Merlin at Holy Loch and another in the 2000's so that's not a million miles for them to travel. There was a guy called Angus on here from Scotland so yes it's not beyond the bounds of possibility at all to get a good turnout. There is also Loch Tummel week which we could explore as well. I am sure that Avon could put on a CVRDA special run of Skin So Soft for the midges (and remember there were a few at Clywedog).

The Neil Wilson - in the old Merlin... that is not the same Neil Wilson of Contender fame by any chance??

The very same - he finished 2nd in the event at Holy Loch and in the last race beat Merlins many years younger by a whisker after 2 hours racing both on the water and of course on handicap. I stayed with him at Strachur on the saturday night having been crewed by his son that day. He also got me a crew for the Sunday who announced he was diabetic right at the start. As I am a diabetic too it was the "yuo're not hypo yet are you?" day - in the boat for about 5 hours - 2 back to back races and 20mins + beat back to shore from the finish line in a force 4. A fabulous weekend. Neil is currently advising me on a simple spinnaker set up fro Gannet.

Oh dear Garry - clearly you've been mixing with all the wrong sorts of people.

Neil and co all ought to carry a Government Health warning: partying with them could injure your wallet and liver in equal measures.

Hope you're not like that too - we'd have thought twice otherwise about an invite to Netley!

But then... we could invite Neil down south and really make the event go with a 'bang'!!
