Shearwater, 6,7 August

Post by chris »

Next event is at Shearwater SC. This is quite a small lake on the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire ( no lions in sight!) but a lovely location.
We hope we offer some friendly racing and will organise something involving meal/pubbing in the evening on Saturday. Sunday we will probably have a few non vintage club boats joining us.
Unfortunately camping/camper vans are not allowed overnight but let us know if you do need to camp and we will make some arrangements somewhere somehow. E.G. we have a couple of spare beds and a garden for tents so do let us know.
Chris and Lois.

ps We usually get a handfull of ribbed boats out so if you have a real vintage boat do bring it.
pps we have a limit of 16' monohulls by the way.

If I don't get put down to work that weekend, the kids will have been shipped to France, so maybe, just maybe I can get to visit again. Don't bake cakes with my name on yet, though! Won't know till about 10 days before, maybe less.

We'll be there since it's our home event and our chance to return some of the great hospitality we've received elsewhere.
If you do want to bring a camper, let us know and tell us how big it is and we'll do our best to find suitable parking or a local site for you even if it is our driveway.
Cake recipes are ready, just need to know how many to make!

Sorry, we won't be coming to Shearwater as we have now planned to go upto Ullswater for 10 days. (And who wants to go to boring old Brittany, anyway?)

As everyone that I have contacted is away or doing other things and we have just one 'maybe' we have decided to cancel the event on 6/7th August at Shearwater. That only left 2 club boats so not a lot of point continuing.

Hope to see you all at Hunts.

Sorry to hear that. We were planning on coming down but my car has terminal rust bug so have to get it welded before MOT and it leaves me without a towcar.
