Aldeburgh 2017

Post by Pat »

If the weather is suitable, perhaps we could do an informal dinghy cruise-in-company on the Friday before the racing event?
Up to Snape with the tide perhaps? And back before it dries! Or down to Orford though tide would probably be against us both ways for that.

High tide is 14:30 at Snape on Friday 9th which pretty much rules orford out. The upstream river is much more interesting too.

And back in time for drinks on the terrace! Camping (Free) will once again be available under the lee of the Martello Tower

The Club extension should be finished, so plenty of room at the extended bar and terrace.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, plans now well under way for this years event. Fantastic progress being made on the new extension to the clubhouse which will give us a lounge overlooking the river. New caterers have just started and they are promising some great food. We have booked a 60's,70's and 80's disco for the Saturday night in the marquee. Would be happy to provide a RIB to keep an eye on boats wanting to cruise up river towards Snape on the Friday. Free camping/caravan pitches under the lee of the Martello Tower again this year and no problem if you arrive a few days early.

NOR, SI's Entry form should be on website soon, will post when the are, an idea of numbers would be a great help. Are you still planning a Friday picnic? Would not suggest as far as Snape as river really narrow, but to Iken cliff with a small sandy beach

Sounds wonderful, I'd love to come but World Masters in Barbados in the Finn has trumped it this year. You're on my list for next year!
