July 2nd and 3rd Vintage regatta, eat drink and be merry....and tack 7500 times. All welcome, but 14ft is about the maximum really.

May 21st special event... No entry fees, lots of food and drink.....Still 7500 tacks though..... More details later

I was thinking of bringing a flying Dutchman - or if I couldn't borrow one, then a Flying 15. Not to sail, you understand, but to act as a bridge to cross the river...
Looking forward to the special event. Is there room on a Moth for all who are needed for such an activity?

You would not believe how much trouble we had fitting the 'special event' in, allowing for Moth and CVRDA open meetings and the club fixture list, even so it looks as though we will be off to Medley the following day :D

I seem to remember that the LARK does not count as a CVRDA class as it designed after 1965. Though I am usually wrong.

Sorry Mark has it wrong, hasn't been sailing at Chippenham long enough, it is at least 7501 tacks.

a 14ft wide canoe....that would be nice....I find the problem is that mine feels like it is 14ins wide....and whenever I put a foot down it is 50/50 whether it will be in the boat or outside.

Indeed Larks are not really allowable for CVRDA.....but it would not be the first time an old lark has raced with us....really it is up to the organisers....and the important thing is that the boat and crew 'fits' with the spirit of the racing.

cheers

Well Ed, your canoe certainly feels wider than mine does at the moment, especially in light winds when all I am doing is eating boom !!! At least your seat is wider than mine, so you have got some movement without a cheek falling off the edge !![:p]

There is some doubt as to the design date of the Lark (certainly 1966, with a possibility, someone (can't remember who, but cvrda)said, that Mike Jackson designed her in 65. Oweing to the fact that we would prefer to allow an inelegible boat in than exclude one that qualifies, the Lark has been allowed in the past at several events. So far, only very old 2 or 3 figure boats have entered, which seems fair! Would go well on the river, but leave the kite at home!
