Whitefriars Winter Classic and Lost Class Meeting. 8th Feb
Re: Whitefriars Winter Classic and Lost Class Meeting. 8th Feb
Hi Rupert,
I was also going to bring the Beachcomber for Roger. If he can find something better we will have a spare boat. I will bring it anyway as it is already on the same trailer so it is easier than not bringing it .

Re: Whitefriars Winter Classic and Lost Class Meeting. 8th Feb
can a Firefly be part of a singlhanded challenge?
(It's highly unlikely that any of my WAD's (thats wife and daughters) will be even remotely interested in getting cold)
I'm sure I've had my pass stamped so I'll look forward to some warm soup.

Saskia has been sailed many times singlehanded at events, (one of the reasons why, since kids came along, I've cvrda's far more than Fireflied) so you would be welcome, Mr Brigg! I'll order more soup...

I understood that Rupert had guaranteed warm weather and gentle breezes. I am not so sure about practicing though. that does seem to be taking things too seriously .

John was practicing to see how much of him could be in pieces having tried to hold a Finn flat upwind for a couple of windy races, and I was practicing testing the water temperature. (ccccold, I can tell you, having missed the centreboard on the Tonic having missed my footing in a tack.) Not too much to worry about there, Nigel!

Hi Rupert,
did anyone video it? It sounds very photogenic .
I had a spectacular wipeout last year. F5 running downwind when the tiller snapped with no warning. I wish I had that on video .

Hi Roger,
That is absolutely fine. I have resisted asking where you found a Nymph but have decided I can get away with it as everyone is so classically minded.

Hi Roger,
I will be under the clubhouse clock wearing a red carnation - alternatively, look for a Nissan X-Trail towing a double trailer

I have never heard nor seen a Nymph. Sung about them and shepherds many years ago as a choirboy but we wont go there.
It seems Rupert got a little muddled.

Re: Whitefriars Winter Classic and Lost Class Meeting. 8th Feb
I have noticed that nothing gets a thread going better than a debate about handicaps, and it looks like "The Winter Classic" will be as exciting as any other with ground rules being laid with the same subtle strokes as the run up to a G8 conferance on greenhouse gas emissions.

Only if you can keep your monocle in and learn to shout "UP UP UP" without moving your lips!I would just like to make known before Whitefriars that:
a) I am a novice and
b) I am changing my name to Lord Henry.
I hope I will be treated accordingly .
